:D You couldn't know, but that is not what is meant here. One problem with translations is that the same word can have different meanings in different contexts. The horsemen of the Awares were descended from the mongols, not chunky mongols.

vmtl. = vermutlich
'Christianisierten' can be translated with 'converted to christianity'.

*whisper* It's this way: when bad spellings are occasional and arbitrary, they're just "wrong". But when misspelling is systematic and consistent, then . . .)

*out loud* The correct appelation for this is, of course, "American English". :D :D

My text.csv is available for download at http://mozart.atpnet.com/~korath/eu2/misc/ifu_eng_text2.zip.
EDIT: a later version exists. See its release notes and download link here.

A couple things to note:
  • I've been careful to include a * on every line that's changed from the 1.05 English text.csv, for easy grepping.
  • A plain * indicates that I'm reasonably certain that the entry is correct.
  • *t indicates an entry where I'm particular concerned about having inadvertently changed the meaning. My knowledge of German doesn't go much further than "Achtung!"; I used an automatic translation engine as my source, and rearranged the sentences so they made sense in English. If you speak German and English and are willing to help proofread for accuracy, these are the entries that need it most.
  • *h indicates that I either wasn't able to find a source for the country name in English (though I didn't look very hard), or that it may be improperly anglicized (e.g., "Black Croats" or "Black Croatia"?); they could stand being looked at with someone more familiar than I with the time period and the countries in question.
  • I translated "asisch" as "Norse," since that seems what is meant, though I'm aware that Norse translates differently back into German.
  • I didn't include the changes to bailiff/legal counsel/mayor promotion at this time, since they aren't propogated to the other bailiff etc references, and due to the inconsistency in being able to promote the mayor first.
  • None of the event texts has been translated, nor has the description for Bavaria (since I ran out of energy at the end), but everything else should be.

I've updated my version of the English text.csv; it's available for download here.

This version still hasn't translated any events, nor the description for Bavaria; however, the anglicized country and culture names should be more accurate, based on information from the Periodical Historical Atlas of Europe and the European Ethnohistory Database.

Also included (and marked with *o indicators to show they are original to the English version, not from the German) are the descriptions of Mercia and the Hamdanids that I posted in the Country Descriptions thread; I left the Norway description (translated from the German text.csv) alone.

is there a file with only the german IFU event texts?? (not semi-translated, and not with all "normal" (EU2-standard) text)
if so, please put up a link or mail it to me at c.h.c.m.tmannetje*NOSPAM*@student.utwente.nl (and remove the *NOSPAM* :D )
