Is the Celtic crown the pyramid looking thing?
Anglo-Saxon has them too I think but I am not sure
Is the Celtic crown the pyramid looking thing?
Yes, I read, that the Longbows get nerved. I think i become either Ango-Sex or stay North, to becom Berserker Charge combat tactic
Housecarls are one of the best retinues available. You get 200 Heavy Infantry with an offensive bonus for 600 retinue points. The units are pure heavy infantry, and with Norse commanders you're nearly guaranteed to have great tactics fire.
If you are starting form the early start dates (before 1066) there will be no Norman culture the only way it can appear is if a Norse ruler rules a Breton, French, Frankish, Dutch or Frisian county and is independent.
Factor in that the majority of battles never actually REACH the Melee phase: unless both sides are really large and relatively evenly matched, they tend to go straight from Skirmish to Pursuit, and archers, English or not, are primarily skirmishers.Actually Berserker Charge is a bad tactic and you should try to avoid it. Yes, it gives a bigger offense bonus. But it also gives your troops a significant defense penalty. So while you will do a lot of damage the moment you engage the enemy, your own loses will also be high. And the increase in your own loses is bigger than the increase in damage you do to the enemy compared to standard Advance.
The only case where Berserker Charge is actually good is if you're flanking the enemy and they're not hitting you back. But in all other cases the standard Advance is much better. So if you're playing as Norse it's actually best to get commanders of a different culture.
To give you a feel for Berserker Charge, assuming tech level 4 and fully upgraded cultural building, Housecarls have 230% attack and 130% defence before applying tactics. Multiplied this gives 299% combat power. This is what it becomes under the following common tactics:
- Berserker Charge: 590% attack and 80% defence, combines into 472% combat power
- Advance: 530% attack and 130% defence, combines 689% combat power
- Force Back: 490% attack and 130% defence, combines into 637% combat power
It's 1200 and still no English person in my hole realm. I will report a bug
If you have the opportunity, Scottish is also well worth considering - Scottish Schiltrom (pikemen) retinues are contenders for the best in the game, and you have access to the Tanistry succession law (like elective but restricted to your dynasty and rather harder to control), which I've always liked. Though once you're an Emperor, you have to deal with the godawful Celtic imperial crown, which makes the conventional western malteser box look like the epitome of taste.
What's wrong with the Celtic crown? The default crown looks like a golden party hat with jelly beans glued to it, plus it's super low res.
But I do agree with considering Scottish. Just be a non Pict ruling a Pictish county and you're set!
But red bag looks niceThere's nothing wrong with the crown, as such. It's the fact that they appear to have put a red bag on top of it.
