Slander... I like. :) Makes me feel like a rebel. Slander is illegal in my country.

You're right. My statement that, through some of history, people believed that the earth was flat is apparently false. It's actually a giant turtle and every one knows a turtle is round. :)

I didn't know Dante was from the medieval era but the various works such as Summa Theologica would be quite definitive. The Earth is, and was as far back as Ptolomy, AND through the Dark Ages, an ORB! Slander retracted.

Sorry about the cranky tone--I was still on my 1st cup of coffee. But this is a topic that always sets me off.

BTW--If Dante (1265-1321) wasn't mediaeval, then Agincourt was certainly a renaissance battle. He was about contempory with Edward II.

If u switch off France early in the game, the fun will be over soon. U will become too powerful and will keep the remaining 300 years either with colonizing the world or conquerring the rest of Europe (and waiting for your BB to sink before u can go for another war.) Once u have tasted how great and boring is to be without equal, I think u'd go for more challenge and pay more attention on game balance.

I think it's more fun to remain historical and give up all holdings at the continent. It's just a big fun to see 100+ French troops being stacked in the mainland as the French navy is stacked in their ports, while u grab all the French colonies all around the world. It's also a big fun to defend equilibrium at the Continent, switch alliances and be the defender of the smaller German states.
Yes. I dare say thats what I will try to do. However, Im going to keep an open mind and I may keep the odd possession!

Im going to try to do the following:
- Remain out of the continents affairs as much as possible!
- Be ruthless with demands if attacked
- For a united Britain
- Colonise like bunnies
- Remain Catholic and begin a crusade against non-catholics with the aim of forming a new Holy Empire OR go against the catholics and defend our will to do so if threatened (depending on the game)
- Go for Infra as suggested elsewhere and then Trade hoping to catch up with wpns later.
- Focus more on a large navy than army

- Attack the moors if they threaten christian europe

And install the game properly first! :D

I think you mean Events - Random Events and Fantasy Events. Right? At least that's how it's setup in the AGCEEP.

I exclusively play the AGCEEP and I always play with Random and Fantasy EVents ON. Random Events you have to play with "On" or you are just going to get Major Events - that is just plain boring.

Fantasy Events really only pertains to a couple countries - Byzantium and the Italian city-states are two such "countries". Byzantium gets a couple fantasy events if they are able to beat the Ottoman Empire and the Italian city-states get Fantasy Events if they form the Kingdom of Italy.

AFAIK, England has no Fantasy Events. Might wanna try posting in the AGCEEP forum though - but I'm like 99% sure they have no Fantasy Events.

Additional things:

IS it worth having:

- Dynamic Missions

Only if you cheese, and choose the dynamic mission before it gets chosen.
It can still be fun, but you'll get into serious shit if you follow it blindly

- Fantasy Missions

Yes, even though there aren't much use for you there, no much fantasy for an England player who stays out of the continent

- Random Missions
?

Some, yes. I like to edit some away, but that's me.

Oh, and if you ever decide to take on England again, and go full on with the HYW, then just be sure to kill of the Dauphin, while gaining all the provinces that borders the channel (except those that Britain owns).

BTW 2Coats, aren't you one of us old dudes here? I would have thought that you knew all there is to know about EUII.

Of course he is, but that's why they call it "old-timer's disease"! :)

Besdies, a lot of things have changed since 2Coats used to play. I mean, come one guys, the game has changed a bit since v1.01! ;)

I know. At least half my advises are from 1.05 or 1.06, which is ancient in these parts. The whole strait to Britain thingy scared me, I mean, I am used to that the AI can't be arsed to send troops with ships, now they can bloody walk over the channel.

:D Thx guys. Old timer - Yes. Eu2 No! Look at the join date..... Im HoI 1.03 man! ;) I had EU2 for a year before, but never found the time to play it. Then Nov02 I took the monumentus decision to install it and play it... IIRC it was at 1.04 or 1.06. I was so impressed that when HoI came out, I brought that and ashamedly never played much EU2 again!

However, I always have it on the HD and play at least once. In truth Ive only played Age of Exploration, as England and only a handful of time, never really getting past a number of colonies on the American continent!

I hope however to play a full game with this one on a weekend by weekend basis.

That is as soon as I can get the thing installed properly.

1.09
MyMap v2
AGCEEP 1.39 deluxe (has the EUGSFM 1.1 inc)
remove the map folder
morefix
morefix42

Im not doing something right, but cant figure out what it is! I get the EU2 AGC icon and all , b ut when I choose that, and the England under the AGC Grand Campaign (not Mymap one), the map is distorted!

I would give my left arm for some foolproof install instructions! :(

I think the AGCEEP deluxe version and MyMap ain't working so well together.
Remeber, the deluxe version is only deluxe for the map, and MyMap.
I haven't tried MyMap though, so I could be wrong.

BTW, remember HOI 1.01? Now that was scary. Chopsticks in the mist really showed the shortcommings of those first couple of patches. Quality control around here has really improved.
Man, I have been here for ages (since EUI), lurked a few years, only whish that Johan would get his butt in gear, and make a EUIII ;) .

Im not sure I understand what you mean by 'deluxe for the map, and Mymap'?

Ive also tried the standard version of AGCEEP and had no luck.

Do I have to do anything between installing Mymap and AGCEEP and between AGCEEP and the updates? Removing directories etc?

The deluxe version only got a better map over the normal version.
Sorry, I can't really help you, like I said, I haven't tried MyMap.
