I'm having a jolly good time as England. I'm going super pacifist with lots of focus on trade and colonization for the first time in my history of EU3. I've fought... two wars, counting the 100 years war which I immediately ended by ceding Calais to France. The only other war is when Tyrone DoWed me. I force annexed them right quick while their big ally, Castile, got trampled by my ally, Portugal.
By 1470, I had diplovassalized Scotland and the Irish minors. By 1480, I had annexed Scotland and fired the Great Britain event. I diplovassalized Portugal and diploannexed the Irish minors. Now it's 1515 and I've diploannexed Portugal (I could've let them colonize a bit longer but I had a Diplomacy 8 King and got paranoid that I'd never get another one that good, and sure enough, two years after I annexed them, I got a crap pot Diplo 3 King). I've got colonies all over the Caribbean, the Southern United States, and now moving into the rich coffee and sugar provinces on South America. I've had my share of run ins with the natives (no wars but a Boundary Dispute event pissed them off so bad that I had spies being flooded at me at a rate of 5 a month it seemed) but I'm making 250d yearly and 90d monthly (before research costs of course. I estimate I'll go for some European holdings come the 17th Century and I've decimated the AI in land/naval tech. Right now, my army and navy are abysmal but I've got 3 NIs and a high trade and production tech. Playing a peaceful nation is just darn fun sometimes.
QFTNW and the two Trade NIs are my Ideas so far, I'm thinking of taking Viceroys next, but as I recall, it allows a very bad event to fire (bankruptcy or something). Can anyone recall what the event is? Maybe it was having Viceroys + several gold provinces.
