Just casually started up an Ironman 30 minute England start before bed when.. Castile's king was 40 with no heir.

I mean I'm not really wanting to do a full on World Conquest but I could definitely form the Roman Empire but what should I do first? Literally nothing else has happened in the game yet.

Surrender of Maine has not fired.

Any advice on Ideas, Religion or anything else would be greatly appreciated.

I think you have the extra manpower and land soldiers to actually win the HYW and stole Paris from France early on (without wasting your manpower and resources before War of the Roses). Paris, which city France basically dependent on income early on, and losing it means their source of income and mainpower is lost and vulnerable from the outside threat such as Burgundy.

And from there just rinse and repeat I guess... Because with France's rich lands the world is your oyster.

I usually tend to wait a while when playing as England to get the war of the roses out of the way. Henry VI is a pain in the ass and getting rid of him is usually a top priority.

Seeing as you have Castille under your boot why not try and take control of the Americas. Get the quest for the new world as fast as you can. With Castille out of the picture and your friendly relationship with Portugal it shouldn't be much of a problem.

France should be a push over as well and you could even restore the union with them as well after the surrender of the Maine fires.

Maybe you could also focus on turning Europe protestant?

There's a mission to restore Union on France, taking that mission and attacking France at your leisure is usually better than the surrender of Maine event since you can wait for France's allies to dishonor alliances, but with Castille you're probably fine regardless. Just focus down Aragon first (assuming they're allied with France already)

Actually they will colonize, and they SHOULD!

In my game when I play as Castille and inherit throne of Portugal trough event (The Dual King I guess...) I basically colonize North America and I let Portugal colonize South America while I focus to fully take Cape and then hop to Indonesia. When I annexed them I inherited Peru, half of Colombia, Argentina, Bolivia and 3/4 of Brazil without breaking a sweat :p

Thanks for the replies!

I'm thinking I will take paris first then feed Aragon to Castile then finish off France.

Any advice on Idea groups in this situation?

Here's the current state of affairs. Going as well as it could I think.

France has been the punching bag of western Europe for nearly 40 years. They conquered all but one province from Brittany allowing me to vassalize and return cores for them. I then integrated Brittany and gained land for Castile and Leinster.

I then got a mission to restore the union of France. A quick peace with Scotland, France's only ally due to dropped alliances from wars, allowed me to easily subdue France under a union.

France is only -120 relations and will be loyal soon.

Aragon is the next target but I don't really want to piss the pope off too much since I've decided to remain Catholic.

Any advice?

Get that "Cheaper subject transfere" age bonus while you can, and force Aragon to hand over Naples. I'd prioritize that over feeding Aragon to Castille, that can be done in a 2nd war.

Great advice, honestly I've never messed with that. Can I just declare a conquest CB and transfer Naples in the peace treaty?

Don't remain catholic.

I know, but it is worth it to put France and Castile through a "force religion" era or are you suggesting I integrate them both then convert everything through Religious Ideas?

Castille will be tricky, but France should be halfway converted just from reformation centers in Germany and England (Unless you get really screwed over by the spawning).

You can stagger the force religion eras, first converting the british isles, letting the CoRs do some work on France before forcing them (You can use your missionarys to help speed up the process), all while having Castile on a short leash to help keep France in line. When they settle down, you can force convert Castile with a now-loyal France to keep them in line.

Or you could integrate and convert. But staying Catholic is really kind of pointless

What did you choose for the Lollards? If you chose the +1 Heretic tolerance, that carries over even after conversion, so you'll have no problem at all with heretics if you take Humanist.

Though even without that event option, you should be fine with Humanist.
