Chapter 1: The war of Spanish Sucession

I arose from my bed on new years day to find that France, Bavaria and Spain are now at war because of the French King's greedyness. We are dragged into thee war by Austria. I am William Jones, advisor to the king and Baron. Our navy needs a quick shaping up. (Inflation is blessed by God- Carlous :D All money goes to the treasurey!)

We engage the French in a naval battle off Cornwall and defeat them, with heavy losses. Are 'glorious' army of 16k lands in Caux. I roder 52 new ships made, with most of our treasurey.

Caux falls in June, 1700 and the troops are sent to Normandie. Normandie falls August 20th, punyt French fortresses. The army marches to Orleans! Orleans falls quickly to our blitzing armies, York and his troops march to Paris! They find that they do not have the equipment to take the city and march south. We defeat a French army in Orleans.

A seperate peace is made with France, giving us the shipyard in Caux and Orleans. I grin as I look over a few maps, eyes stopping at Genoa...

We wait for the 52 warships to be made, so that we may build an army to send to Italy. I look over the dock as I see the massive fleet of 71 warships and 1 transport. I raise an army of 25/3/2 in Anglia, our seaborne invasion force.

April 1702, our navy and army set off for Corsica, we defeat two Genoan fleets along the way. our army lands in Corsica in June.

Corsica falls on September 11. (Coincidence?) Austria annexed Bavaria, COlgne, and mainland Genoa. We take Corsica.

We are dragged into a war against Sweeden, Holstien, and Turkey by Austria. We are at war with Spain, Knights, and the mentioned alliance above.

We launch a seaborn invasion of Naples, but are held off by the Spanish Garrison. Our retreating invasion of Naples defearts the Spanish in Apulia and we take it easily (no fortress). We attack Naples again before defeating a Turkish navy. We retreat once more, but their army is anhilated.

We send the navy back to Anglia for reincforements (28/23/11) which are to land on mainland Spain. Our army in Apulia is anhilated by the Spaniards, go with God I mumbled.

The reinforcements become the Italian invasion army as the navy changes courses for Naples. I marry into the royal family of the Hansa L., wow! The King's daughter is beautiful! She births my son a few months later.

The invasion army lands in Naples. The garroison surrenders almost immediatly. The army takes Apulia and ehads to teh island of Sicily.

Corsica declares independance, Ill deal with it later. I am promoted to viscount.

The invasion suffers mass atrition and is at 26k now.

We accept peace with Spain in return we get Messina and Apulia. Corsica is annexed.

The war of Spanish Succession is over.

I can barely write further..I hae just spoken to my son..Long live England.

Taken from the journal of William Jones I 1670-1707

Graveyard of honor: Colonal Percy (commander of first Italian invasion) William I (Advisor and viscount to King)

Our nation was in bad shape, military wise. I imediatly dispatch messangers to do the following:

Raise more troops, put down rebellions, promote officials.

In my final talk with my father, he told me of his plans:
"Son..I am within my final breathes...you must help England acheive greatness, I have done all that I can, you must continue the job. Keep the Austrians close, they will become a threat if not embraced. YOu must attack the Venicians, Portugeese, and Romans (Papal) soon, for they are weak. The Spanish must be eliminated from all of Europe but Iberia..make sure of it..good luck.." Those were his last words.

Chapter 3: Fufilling last requests

As I remember my father's last words and request, I try to think of the best nation of the few to strike.

1) The Venitians, already being attacked by the Turks, heavy fortresses. Ragusa with shipyard and Venice CoT. Alliance: Russia, Saxony, Denmark, PL, Hansa, Ukraine. Denmark, Hansa, Venice only threats.

2) Papal States, war with Austria already. Weak fortresses. Alliance: Portugal, Persia, Parma. The 'P' alliance.

3) Spanish- Lowlands, Naples, Sicily, Sardinia, Baleares, Milan weak fortresses. Alliance: France, Knights.

War with the Pope

I chose the Papal States in Rome and declare war! A few days later, the venitian alliance goes against P alliance. How convineant :D. Our 35k in Portugal are shipped to Rome and land on December 10, 1709. Rome falls within a month! In Feb of the next year, Romaga falls! The army marches to Emilia. The force diverts to Parma, as Venice conmtrol the siege in Emilia and take it soon after. We take and annex Parma. Colonal Thomas is praised for leading the Italian campaign. The Papal States are annexed. Venice taking Emilia.

Spanish War
Spain declares war immediatly after we annex the P states. Peace is made with France immediatly to secure Orleans and Caux. Peace made with Persia and Portugal. Colonal Thomas and..124 cannons are trapped in Parma. The Spanish blitz our unprotected Portugeese provinces. We immediatly order reinforcements in Anglia, this war must be turned our way! Tuscany declares war! Peace is made quickly. 56k arrive in Parma and the province falls back into English hands. The Netherlands have taken Milan. Colonal Thomas takes command. The force invades Sardinia. Sardinia falls on Sept 10, 1713. Valencia is then invaded by Col. Thomas which falls shortly. They march to Castille! Corsica declares independance, I will deal with them later. Castille falls to Thomas June 20, 1714. Genoa declares independance from the Austrians! An army from Anglia lands in Flandres as Thomas ravages Spain. Artois falls to our lowland army, while Aragon, Euskadia, and Astirus fall to Thomas. Peace is finally made! We receive Sardinia and Flandres! The heroes of the war: Col. Thomas, defenderof Parma, scourge of the Mediterranean, humbler of Spain, Tuscany, and the Papal states; Col Eaglethorpe, commander of the lowland army.

Aftermath- Corsica

That old menace from the time of my fawther, Corsica..Col. Newcastle boards a small detatchment of the navy with 12k men to defeat the Corsicans. Newcastle anhilates the Corsican rebel army of 6k men. The province is taken and all wars concerning England end.

_________________

Gains: Sardinia, Flandres, Romaga, Rome, Modena.
Losses: A hell of a lot of men.
Reserved to the national honr graveyard: Col. Thomas; Col. Eaglethorpe; Lt. General York (Took Orleans and Caux, died during the Spanish war); Admiral Russel, commander of the navy; and lastly, Col Newcastle.

Events not mentioned: Genoa who declared independance, was quickly annexed by Austria. Austria left the alliance making our alliance (Prussia, Netherlands, Hessen, Hannover, England). Maps traded with Prussia. George I rising to the throne. Spain invaded Ireland, but repulsed by Col. Norfolk. Oporto was in Spanish hands during the war.

_____________

I grin with glee as I look over the new updated maps. I will fufufill my father's wishes, I will. My son is born to my wife from the Hansa League, I name him Camden. He will fufill his grandfather's wishes if I can not.

Chapter 4; The Venician war

Here ya go, enjoy.

___________________

Starting date: May 2, 1716

'The Venicians.....' I mumbled to myself as I looked over the maps, 6 huge heavy fortresses, an army of 40k, alliance with Hansa and Russia. I decided it was time to strike. I secretly order men in Anglia for a surprise seaborn invasion.

I deliver the declaration personally in December, 1707, as soon as I handed it to the clerk, a huge rumble was heard, the Royal navy was anhilating the 16 ships guarding Venice and men were streamining into the city! I smirk and ride the hell out of there.

Sardinia declared independance. Brothers of the Corsicans, perhaps? Venice falls to our guns after a long siege. Soon after, Mantua falls. The army blitzes Emilia, the weakest fortress of Venice. Istria takes a bit longer because of atrittion, we allow Sardinia independance. Venice takes Modena. Newcastle and reincorcements arrive in Istria. Istria falls in November, 1718. We anhilate a Venican troop in Ragusa, but lose in an attempt to break the seige in Romaga. Another attempt at Romaga succeeds and the victors are shipped ot Ragusa. Portugeese land in Ragusa..odd.. We run short of men to siege Ragusa once more, we send for reinforcements. The sige drags on.. Ragusa finally falls in October 1720 after 30k reinforcements arrived. The army under Newcastle arrives un Corfu on Crhistmas day and are driven back by the Venician regiment God didnt want us to fight on his son's day of birth. The army is shipped back to Modena and takes it back. We prepare for the final asult of Corfu. Bavaria breaks away from Austria and join are alliance. Crazy Portugeese, they land in Korfu against an army 7 times their size. The reinforcements from Anglia begin their journey to Corfu. 42k men land in Corfu in March, 1722, just after a Port. force is anhilated and the venicians are anhilated, a month later, the fort falls, and the riches of Venice are annexed into the Empire of England.

This is really well done CVII. It's interesting comparing the English part of this scenario as opposed to the Austrian part I'm currently playing on the EUII board. I'm still trying to figure out how to team up Marlborough and Eugene. :)

Very nice, I am playing England in the IGC and the most European land gains I have made is about 1/4 of France. This is pretty good! Ohh, and don't worry, I will be migrating to EUII, but I will still check this area out just as much.:D

Starting date- June 12, 1722.

We raise troops in England to put down constant rebellions. I receive word that Austria is up against a large alliance, intresting. We begin to raise tropps in our italian posessions, readying for a war with the Austrians to the north. I am appointed governer of Venice, all of our possessions there are being fortified and improved.

Our spies tell us that the Austrians have 20 thousands. Horrible news arrived at my desk in Venice, the Austrians have annexed Bavaria, our former-allies. The war rages with our allies and Austria, as we had gone out of the war quite a few years ago. The Austrians charge through our Prussian allies. Our forces in the area equal about 90 thousand men. 29k in Mantua, 22k in Venice, 9k in Istria, 17k in Emilia, 30k in Rome, and 35k in Corfu. May 30th, 1725, war is declared on Austria.

Austrian War

Holland is the only to dishonor our alliance. Many nations declare war on us. Our troops mobilize into to southern Austrian provinces. Our Portugeese army strikees into Tago. The Austrian mountain's winters devestate our troops. Our troops in Corfu land in TUrkish Morea, God destroy you infedels. Stryia falls to our troops in May, 1726. Morea falls in August, Tyrol in September. Morea becomes a part of the British Empire. The greatist victory min British history occures in May, '27. Tyrol falls back into Austrian hands. Caux falls to the Potugeese. Whtie peace is made with Portugal. CArnolia falls to our remiaing 16k of the Austrian campaign. White peace is made with the Dutch, after they were repulsed in Caux. Styria falls to the Austrians, but Odenburg to us. Styria falls back to us, July '98. WE are forced to send for reinforcements from England itself. We prey the 90k reinforcements arrived before we are overwelmed by the large Austrian army. We continue to harass the Austrians, province control switches back and forth. The army boards the 100 ship navy and starts the logn journey to Ital from London. The reinforcements arrive in November '29. The army is split and sent around Austrian territory. We recevie 250d from Wurtembeurg in peace.

June 16th, 1730 the treaty of Golderian is signed, The British Empire receives the lands inside the borders of the Austrian provinces of Tyrol and Styria, in exchange for peace. A glorious victory with England.

Description of the battle of British Gold

Note: This is a description of the 'Most glorious battle in British History' mentioned earlier.

The British-Italian invasion force of Austria was at it's best, 41 thousand men were marching from Venice and into the Styrian mountains, which were heavily garrisoned by some 39 thousand Helvetican-Austrian mountain forces. I, Camden Jones was the commander of a small unit of 50 sharpshooters. As we crossed the boarder, into the province, artillery shells blasted on a few initial hills before the mountains. There seemed to be no resistance on the hills, so the army marched forward. As soon as the army crossed the hills, an uproar of sound came from above. Bullets and cannon balls rained from the sky down from the mountains. The troops immediatly scattered in confusion and dove behind things to hide. The officers immediadtly assumed control and marched forward, despite heavy losses, the army managed to reach the foot of the moutan that most of the defenders were on. My band of sharpshooters were picking off artillery men that were visible. The decreased and demoralized army charged forward up the mountains, be rained on by bullets and shells. Soon, yells of 'wheres the ammunition!?' were heard from the enemy postitions as the army advanced. The Swiss started hurling those niftly little knives at our men, to little, if not no avail. More shots were heard and men were dropping like flies in our army. Our spies, after the battle, told us that men with most of the ammunition were busy trying to extract gold from the caves with their guns. The shootout turned into hand-to-hand as our troops stormed the mountain, beating down defenders as they passed. Retreat horns were heard from farther up the mountain and the enemy poured down the other side. Our troops shot down on them with no mrecy as they retreated. Only 4 thousand men of the 39 thousand managed to retreat into Vienna or the city, the rest were missing and froze to death, or killed by our soldiors. It was a massacre for us also, only 14 thousand remained of our glorious army. Withour\t the sucess of thsi battle, the Austrians would have overtaken us before the reinforcements arrived from England. A great victory indeed.
