Hi there!

The picture says, that you can view the enemy focus tree, if you improve your decryption, which is a research project, if i recall the video correctly. Sounds like a very cool thing to me, to calculate, how you can counter enemy strategies and foresee their political attitude in some things...What do you think about this?

Totally agree - being able to see an enemy's focus tree will give some indication as to their longer-term goals. A nice, clearly tangible way to see decryption tech in action as well :).

Thats indeed very usefull information. Especially if you look at the US NF tree for example. Their tree includes 5 different plans which steer the country towards entirely different paths. Knowing which plans (you can enact all of them if you wanted) the US player/ai is following can be crucial information. If you as an german player see that the US player actually works towards plans against the USSR and/or the UK and probably even working towards the unholy alliance you probably want to support that of course and avoid any agression against him that could change his mind. Then again if he actually works towards the historical path you probably want to prepare and build the atlantic wall for example.

If you can see what a country is currently working towards, you know at least what tree he has currently gone down. More over you could just keep tabs on opponent nations periodically and figure out what they are doing without decryption. I say make decryption more important by not ever knowing what they are currently researching, and only finding out through your intelligence what they have focused on previously.

hmm.. shouldn't that depend on how much effort you're prepared to put into intel at the expense of other projects? Whether you discover the in-game equivalent of Peenemunde before or after rockets start landing on your head would then be up to you. They will also need to use common sense in deciding the level of secrecy of the various NFs; some things will need Bletchley Park to uncover, while the only investment needed to discover Germany is building autobahns is buying the papers every morning.

you dont have to, and certainly wont B-line one tree, besides that it isnt even possible most of the time. And some trees go very different paths so even then you wont know what an country is doing. Unless you actually know every major's nation national focus tree out of your head you probably wont have a clue where they are going anyway. The one thing they probably should remove is the progression bar of the current NF tho.

My thought is, that you can click on the "current enemy focus" button and see the whole tree. Of course it is not good, to let your strategy being dictated by your enemy. But as an axis player, you can keep an eye on world tension and evade, that GB or USA get focusses with higher WT prerequites early in the game and become to powerful to fight them. So you can be able to steer them a bit...

You just contradicted your previous post when referring to USA and it's war plans. If you keep tabs on the USA, and see they are focusing war plan red, you know they will be joining Comintern. As far as not knowing trees, it takes about 10 seconds to google them if they are new to you.

Example, I'm playing Germany. Obviously I'm very interested in what France is doing. Checking on them routinely I see they are now focusing on "Support The Left." A lot of these important alignment NFs are self explanatory. Even if I didn't know what that was, a quick reference check (http://i.imgur.com/32JeCDz.jpg) and I see they are only a few foci away from joining Comintern. I know roughly how long until they are able to join Comintern based on how long the average focus takes (lets say 100 days for a nice round number). That means I have x amount of time to attack them before they are allied with USSR (a little over a year in this case).

This could be very detrimental to multiplayer games where you are constantly checking on your opponent to see how they will align themselves. Focus should not be readily available in my opinion, only through intelligence should they be revealed.

Definitely makes espionage more usefull than just, raise own unity.

I definately want to be able to pull up focus trees for other nations while platying. While being able to see the paths taken by nations would definately be helpful, and add to the enjoyment of the game, I really want this ability to just understand the game and minimize reload [as another nation] hassle. I can see many examples where a player will want to understand the requirements for tripping a requirement. (example,: France player sees Anchluss event fires and knows that there is a German division requirement, but can't remember the number of divisions).

I agree, sometimes it would be helpfull to have some sort of basic info about the decision. However, not knowing is also kind of fun.
