Hi,

I am playing as Ottoman in Ironman mode with all expansions, and I am plagued by endless revolts. For the last 100 years, even in provinces I have controlled for almost 150 years there are an endless cycle of large revolts. 3+ 15 - 20 unit stacks, sometimes up to 40 unit stacks if its a peasant revolt in my turkish/sunni core provinces. I also take huge losses when crushing these revolts so my manpower is constantly low.

How are you supposed to control this, I seem to spend more time suppressing the revolts than doing anything else. As a result in the last 50+ years I have conquered 0 provinces and lost several to predatory neighbors. While I don't mind a challenge this is starting to become very frustrating :(

I am probably doing something wrong, if so I would appriciate some pointers.

Best Regards,

B.

Increase autonomy, build courthouses, take humanist/religious, convert religions/cultures? Take right culture/religion provinces only? Place your army in problematic provinces, hire theologian?

The simple answer is look at what's causing the unrest and solve those problems as best you can. We can't help you unless we know why you're getting the revolts.

I will try that :), I am converting as I go but I don't have enough ruler points to convert everything in a timely manner or build all the province improvements I want.

As a follow up question, why does a revolt happen in a province with 0 unrest, just seems counter intuitive. And that is the core of the problem, I have no idea why I get the revolts.

Best Regards,

B.

there is still option to use harsh treatment. Just open "stability and expansion" tab, click on handle them and there is everything you need. Or increase autonomy as op stated.

If you go to expansion and stability tab and mouse over a rebel faction you'll see what provinces cause RR build up. You can then go to individual provinces (i prefer RR map which is really handy for troop allocation and dealing with revolts) and see all the RR build up elements there.

1) Take Humanist idea group
2) Take Humanist idea group
3) Take Humanist idea group

I am currently playing Ottoman Ironman and expanding like crazy, due to Humanist ideas I have practically no rebels.

Sounds to me its a combination of national unrest quite high so -2 or more, caused by low religious unity, war exhaustion, negative stability, low legitimacy, combined in some cases with high local unrest so nationalism, wrong culture, wrong religion. Address the easier stuff first which is your national unrest, if you have a slow moving revolt so <20% cumulative unrest for that faction harsh treatment will buy you several years extra to fix things.
