I was thinking that it would be rather nice to see something like:

-Soldiers killed during the whole time. (A graph would be nice, here)
-Number of provinces that changed hands. (Ie. The Spread of the war)
-Number of countries fighting for each side. (Perhaps a list, and dates)
-Graphs of all sorts. (IC, VP, Manpower...)

So basically the chance to use the ledger when the game ends. (With some additions and removals (No need to see the current wars).

Also I use this chance to ask that you could decline to end the war in the "Game has ended" screen. (And therefore each time you End the game from the QUIT button you should see all the above stats.)

Also a replay of some key events illustrated on a world map would be cool, like declaring war, occupying provinces, occupying VPs, puppeting, annexing, event choice selection, maybe major battles ... sort of old CIV style.

But I would much prefer if more effort is put into game mechanics and balance and the fun factor (esp. MP play) rather than bells and whistles :)

Well, its a very minor bell/whistle. If they were to include it, I don't think it would take too much effort. Besides, it'll add to the ending of a game. The graphs showing your struggle and eventual triumph or defeat. Espically the amount of manpower lost. See those losses soar :)

This one was in CIV, and it was always fun to watch it at the end of the empire stretched out from one settlement and engulfed the map ;-)

But; I totally agree that development time should NOT be used for making end-movies, end-screens etc. Use it for developing the game. That's what's important.

Well, at least one end-screen for each of the three major alliances would be nice to have. Maybe six in total (victory vs defeat). But this is hardly something that is at the top of my wish-list.

And I hope there will be battle statistics. Preferable accessable during the game.

Not to forget the "divisions/ships/airdivisions built"

Maybe in Februar 1942 you click on the stats and see:
Total fighterdivisions : 52 (actual)
Total fighterdivisions built: 78 (whole time)
Total fighterdivisions lost: 26 (whole time)

(Maybe you can leave one out and calculate yourself)

The same for all types of air-, land- and seaunits

Additional:
AA, coastal- and landforts build/lost
IC lost, Infra lost

An excellent idea and, if I remember correctly, not a new nor an unprecedented one at all either. It really would improve the ending screen by a couple of notches.

What's the HOI ending screen look like? (i've been playing for a year and still haven't made myself play to the absolute end of the game.)

I don`t own HOI myself, but I have seen AAR endings, I recall it being just the VP counts for all the three parties. (Fascist, democracy and Commitern.)

What about information on things like:

- major battles
- bloodiest battle of the war
- largest air raid
etc.

And a really cool thing: A page of a history book, composed of pre-worded fragments, telling the story of the war and its major events.

Yeah! That would be great. They ought to do that so that there is more incentive to finish the game and so forth.

I second all the ideas in this thread, especially the Civ Empire Rise and Fall map idea :) That was one of the best features of Civ and Alpha Centauri and I've often found myself wishing I could watch my empire spread year by year in EU2, HOI and Vic :)

Would be interesting to watch your Empire shrink if you're the loser. :D

I would really want to see the total losses. Id say killed, used, captured. Killed being manpower that never returns, Used meaning all manpower used in the war, and captured meaning troops left in surrounded pockets.
