Do you think it will work? The ramifactions of it all are huge George. We are going to have to put as many as six times the man into harms way as we did with Japan. Even now we have Marines on the outskirts of Manchuria. Can we hope to defeat the Axis on there own continent?

FDR looked at the map of the world, shaking his head

Asia.jpg

Japan had all but fallen, work on surrender terms being written up. American troops were sitting well into Manchuria and even had a presence in China after helping to liberate it's major cities.

George Marshall - Yes Mr.President, once Japan leaves the Axis and accecpts our terms of total surrendor I belive we can slam the door shut on Nazi Germany and her european partners.

TheAxis.jpg

With the Soviet union's installiation of a puppet state and buffer in Poland it looks as if we may have to fight them without the Soviets help. We are still worried about there entry into the war late, to make gains in eastern europe.

Germany is of course the main threat, followed by Spain and then Italy.

GermanIntelligance.jpg

As we had discussed at Terran with the British and Comonwealth, we will be attacking the soft underbelly of europe first with amphibious invasions to both this spring.

We also have the British Reserve forces

As well as our own reserve army at Ft.Benning

And our reserve fleet

Letters from the Front

Dear Ma' Ma

I'm now deep into what they say is Northern Korea, if you look on the map it's past Japan. We fought all the way up this god forsaken country and now, with the worst of winter behind us ar in the mountians. My Regiment has control over several key passes into Manchuria. We are not sure if we are going to take there capital or not.

It's cold here, unlike home. It snows by the foot and the wind is downright primal. It's not like the islands of 42 or 43, even the mainland of 44. Here it's a vast wild territory. I'm amazed the Japs even took it in the first place. Miles of hills and mountians along with forests. We have been fighting in small battles the past month, company strength with the 3rd and 6th Divisions Take Dillian. I would have never though being in the Corps would I have come to such a place. It's been five long yars and I miss you and Dad. I can't wait for a homecooked meal though we do alright here.

Your Son
David

The Navy Cross may be awarded to any person who, while serving with the Navy or Marine Corps, distinguishes himself in action by extraordinary heroism not justifying an award of the Medal of Honor. The action must take place under one of three circumstances: while engaged in action against an enemy of the United States; while engaged in military operations involving conflict with an opposing foreign force; or, while serving with friendly foreign forces engaged in an armed conflict in which the United States is not a belligerent party. To earn a Navy Cross the act to be commended must be performed in the presence of great danger or at great personal risk and must be performed in such a manner as to render the individual highly conspicuous among others of equal grade, rate, experience, or position of responsibility. An accumulation of minor acts of heroism does not justify an award of the Navy Cross.

The President of the United States
Takes Pleasure in Presenting
The Navy Cross
To

David J Morrison - Gunnery Sergeant, United States Marine Corps

For Services as Set Forth in the Following

For extraordinary heroism as Rifle Platoon Sergeant A Company 2nd Battalion 1st Marines 1st Marine Division in support of Operation NORTHERN WIND on 23 and 24 Febuary 1945.As Regimental Combat Team 1 attacked north towards Hua-Hen it came under stiff resistance from elements of the Japanese 16th and the Manchurian 1st Division. After two hours of close combat in a vital mountian pass and with total disregard for his own welfare, he assisted the evacuation effort of four Marines, two of whom were critically wounded. While still receiving enemy fire, he began to support there evacuation with small arms and a machine-gun. Gunnery Sergeant Morrison continuously exposed himself to withering enemy fire during the three-hour battle in the pass. His courageous battlefield presence inspired his Marines to fight a determined foe and allowed him to position his platoon's heavy machine guns to repel numerous waves of attackers. In the midst of the battle, a Sherman Tank was destroyed, killing or wounding all its occupants. Gunnery Sergeant Morrison immediately moved to recover the four Marines. He again exposed himself to a barrage of fire as he worked for nearly an hour recovering casualties from the wreckage. By his outstanding display of decisive leadership, unlimited courage in the face of heavy enemy fire, and utmost devotion to duty, Gunnery Sergeant Morrison reflected great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the Marine Corps and the United States Naval Service.

Sorry for being away for so long, my guard unit activated me for a possible mission and then sent me home... I still got paid though

What is the allied presence on the Maginot line?

The French belive it or not, some Belgin troops as well. As you can see, apprently the AI is going Ahistorical on me. I dig it : )

Looking forward to see your invasion materialize.

Next update, it's a goodie as some things diden't work out as planned.

interesting...wow the french are still in the maginot line? how that happen? i guess the vichy event didnt fire or something?

Poland folded and gave up the corridor but not danzig, USSR invaded them, germany attacked France and the low countries and no vichy event, no denmark or norway.

I kicked the snot out of Japan, with my " lightfighter " concept of pacific war.

This sounds most intriguing. I look forward to seeing how the ahistoric elements unfolded as your AAR goes along. Nice piece with the letter home; always a pleasant touch an in AAR.

Lightfighter is a simple concept... if your going to fight in jungles and marhes you use whats most effective. If you've noticed the large ammount of regualr infantry, mountian and marine troops in the US arsenal... thats what it is for. Stuff them to the gills with arty and give them the naval and air support they need ( includeing supply, I've found it's great for giving that extra ESE edge ) and they will fight like mad dogs.

Marines, with offenseive supply, have 150% ESE when assaulting from the sea

Mountian troops in all but flat terrian do better than nilla infantry, nillia infantry are great when used with both mountian and marine troops against japan. Places like the PI and Formosa are a lightfighters dream.

Most of my army is mot or mech with armor for europe... hence the far east Lightfighter concept. Why send trucks and tracks into jungle when you can send foot patrols?
