I'm a large, aggressive theocratic empire that enslaves and genocides the planets I capture. People don't like me, obviously.

However, when the Prethoryn Scourge shows up, it'd be nice to see their opinions suddenly change to be based off of my military strength and be inundated with pleas to intervene for the sake of the galaxy. As it is, since the Scourge is on entirely the opposite side of the galaxy from me, I really have no motivation to care about fighting it other than the knowledge that by the time it reaches me it'll be unbeatable.

I think this sort of logic should apply to all end-game crises - if it's a huge threat and you have a huge military, everyone should suddenly be demanding that you help and celebrating if you decide to.

In regards to the previously inhabitable planets infected by the scourge turning into barren planets and the referenced post...

Now that Frontier Outposts continue to require Influence to maintain, even if handed to a sector, the Prethoryn dead-zone is even less usable.

I found something interesting in the Digital Art Book DLC, which if could be made true in a future patch, (planet data flags change with terraforming, infection, etc.)

WOULD BE AWSOME!

......"Colonies infested by the Prethoryn Scourge cannot be easily recovered. The only viable course of action is to bathe the surface in fire from orbit to cleanse it of the Prethoryn plague, after which the planet can, with some difficulty, be terraformed to once again sustain life."

quote from page 140 of Digital Art Book DLC, "Swarm Planets"

I currently have a planet in my Empire that is barren after scourge cleansing that still shows a Celestial Body modifier of 'Cornucopia'

What do you say PARADOX? Just thinking about it being in the original outline that made the cut for the bonus material....

(Love the game by the way....my boss has only caught me playing it at lunch.....so far......:D)

I ran across some more suggestions/view points on the whole Scourge-Planet thing, so I won't be taking any credit for this one.

Perhaps from Prethoryn colony or construction ship wrecks one could access terraforming tech that would, after cleansing the
planet and subsequent building of orbital terraforming station, the planet could again be habitable, but in a limited fashion like
max pop reduction or such.
