Personally I still think that a Civ-style World map of the diplomacy screen, or whatever just shows countries as colours, that you can fast forward from the start to the end. See the White Blob grow, and grow, and grow...until your blue blob pushes it back south.
yes, that's awesome. though perhaps also narrate it. such that, if you gain land through some diplomatic or military (or other) action, in text it says "in year x the kingdom of y <diplomatic action> with the kingdom of z and received such and such provinces" and the like.

I really don't see Paradox doing anything super fancy like having many different movie endings. Thats alot of time spend making something alot of people won't see or, if they see it alot, skip.

As for the numbers screen - most of that information is already kept track of in-game (IIRC) so I don't see adding that to be a big issue

I always have liked the Civ endings. I like watching my color spread and devour all other colors on the map. Go Blue Blob go!

I hope they devote some time to what I like to call the "Late Game Blues". Usually by 1700 my country is set and the game gets dull. The blobs have consolidated their positions and the number of countries in the world is reduced by one half at least. Everyone is sitting on these massive armies, but it's like they are all afraid to do anything. In the last 100 years of so,the greatest conflicts happening in the world are titanic struggles like England vs. Shawnee or Portugal vs. Congo.
(Usually ending with one side paying 15 in indemnities.)

What, you don't want to see a screen where you're laying in state with a screen that reads: You Surrendered. ?

I like these graphs that shows the percentage of domination that different powers got along time. Like a square showing time on the x axis and % on the y axis were the powers are displayed added on each other so that for every x value you have a total of 100% in Y. It represent very well dominant powers by the height in every moment.

Maybe color degradation could also be used to show the relative influence of the countries in each period. the more solid the more relative power in a given time.

Did you pick that to show how underpowered Spain is? :D :D

if anyone has ever played the old wormz games, when they give out little titles and awards based on numerical stats..
i could picture Paradox doing something of this nature. like 'the brass scales' going to the best economic country, 'the navigator's sextant' to the best explorer, 'oliver branches' to the most peaceful and stable, little stuff like that to add more sentiment to a huge report of numbers

movie clips would also be cool, maybe just a few different ones(Ominous glory, utter ruin, bitter defeat, unstable chaos, and one that gives the feeling you ended in the same monotony you started.)

This gives me an idea. In Eu is always missing "Hall of Fame" or whatever where your score is stored. To make it more interesting (playing against your own score again and again could by boring after a while) it could have a button which would send your score to the forum (or some other site where they would be stored). Then the list in the game would actualize itself with the datas from the web. So insted list consisting only "Me - Me - Me - Me - ..." you would have list with best world rulers. Ok, and to keep some information about your own score there could be one line at the bottom reserved only for your best score.
And about the ranks, good idea. What about if you end with some VPs, the game will compare it with its chart and give you a title. From duke or count to emperor, pope or God. And it could be connected with the name of country as which you've played. So at the end your name would look like: "Fidel2007, king of Baden, duke of Bavaria, Lorraine and Bohemia, count of Sweden and Brandenburg."
