I find once I hit my goals, territory i wanted, etc. I start to look around at the nations around me, I spot someone that id doing something unique or odd and I start helping them, "babysitting" killing off rebel factions, hitting their enemies etc, assuming i can't get into their personal wars.

I started in my current game "baby sitting Byz and Venice. The ERE with some guidance (and file adjustment to save Venice) became Rome, then collapsed a half century later. Venice has blossomed. Ireland, and Navarra have made major stands in the game with some assassinations in the right time and place. . As have my 'puppet/sister states' of Lotharingia and Frisia (my dynasty)

Abyssinia only required 1 assassination one of its kings turned Muslim and i wasn't having that considered they had lasted 200 years without help

So got a couple of questions for everyone :)
- What do you do as "end game"
- if you 'baby sit' whats the normal result, do you find it to be hard, (like the damn Romans)
- how often do things go your way
- what kind of end results do you end up with. (aka the complete fall of HRE to internal kingdoms running away, or the fall of England (really Norway lol) to the combined attacks of Ireland, Frisia and the Pomerania's :)

Added the religion just because i thought that was cool. i had started a strong Cathar base, the Catholics fell apart despite keep a rather large score for about 60 years.

Note: sorry about the images, the image tag doesn't seem to be working for anything site i use atm.

In my current game the Pope had a bastard, which I married to a daughter of mine. The plan is to make his descendants dukes in my future Empire. I'm also trying to get the of Wessex dynasty back on the English throne, but seeing as there is only one male who turned celibate, that might be too hard.

lol this really shouldn't exist. Two ideas to solve it:

1) Renaissance/decline of nobility add on (don't say "that's EU3/4 territory" because it's not - in those games republics might be good, but in CK you must always pursue high CA absolute monarchy) - easily done by extending the end date, adding in renaissance troops/buildings/events and representing the new world through a tab (like religion/military/characters are).
2) More peacetime events to make the life of a powerful emperor seem appropriately enjoyable

I do hope I never get to the point of babysitting myself.

When I get around to the "end game", I usually run a multi-kingdom and one or two other kingdoms might have rulers from my dynasty. As a sort of end game challenge, I like to promote my family to as many kingdoms as possible. Usually that involves massive wars but I try to wage them all without taking those kingdoms over myself. I really "just" want to empower my relatives.

Of course some of those very relatives are ingrateful bastards who attack me left and right for their egoistical goals, while I try to do the best for the family... especially the close relatives are awful, with their claims on all your titles. Spinning kingdoms off to younger brothers can backfire soooo horribly sometimes!! :D

Well this is when I really start to enjoy this game: when there is no major external/internal threat, I start role-playing, nurturing non-vassal cadet branches, and helping whoever I feel like helping.

There is a decent amount of things that I'm never tired of doing:
Super-ruler breeding program;
Nurturing a sprawling dynasty with cadet branches ruling all over Europe, resolving family conflicts, overseeing succession, what not;
Adding people to the "characters of special interest" list, following their story, helping them, and if necessary temporarily switching to them during game pause (using the play [character ID] console command).

The things that I enjoy the most are those without any kind of "win" condition, these things are always interesting and goes on forever. These are the reasons why I find this game so special.

do you mean this type of end game shouldn't exist? While I would love more peace time events, I also look at this from another point of view. The second you press start historical is out the window.

In my current game the Pope had a bastard, which I married to a daughter of mine. The plan is to make his descendants dukes in my future Empire. I'm also trying to get the of Wessex dynasty back on the English throne, but seeing as there is only one male who turned celibate, that might be too hard.

I had something like that happen with Venice, towards the end of the game i married my sister to the mayor of a very large Venice, a couple years latter i notice their son was heir to the republic.
