I stated my argument. If you want to address it, its right there. Repeating "why don't you just turn it off" is intellectually lazy and essentially the equivalent of saying "no u". If you have nothing else to say on the matter, fine, but there's no need to keep posting, we've got it already.

Ironman does not do what it claims to do (you can still savescum as much as you want, there's dozens of ways to abuse the game to get anything you want and still be in ironman, there's dozens of different ways to unlock achevos). Its a broken feature and it always has been. Fixing it would take far, far, far more effort than can ever be justified (and would also likely be illegal for many nations). If there's a feature that's broken (which Ironman objectively is as it does not accomplish its stated goals) and cannot be fixed, it should be removed. There's already replacement systems for auto-saving; the only other things that Ironman does are simple self-control issues (if you don't want to use the console, don't use the console) which aren't worth making or keeping a feature for.

It's just unofficial community law, like in XCOM. Making copies is looked down upon but can be justified. It's mostly for bragging rights and justification of pride and accomplishment.
Now watching florryworry on VH normal mode is just not as exciting as watching him in Ironman, even if he birds, its just not the same, Ironman just adds this "kick" on top.
Now all your arguments are solid but in the case of Ironman its more of a "feel" kind of thing if you dig? You said it yourself, making changes to it is pointless, people just make copies of the saves anyway even if you allowed 3 saves per run and its basically just playing like normalmode but with more hassle of loading an older save, only that this mode has a "kick" to it that normalmode never will have, neither in EU4 nor in XCOM.

This is a fairer (if a bit vague) argument. But let me ask you this; If Florry used Ironman valid save editing to complete a run, would it still have that feel? If he used any of the other dozen methods for externally cheesing the game that are still Ironman valid, would it still have that "kick"? If not, perhaps the kick is related to something else, not necessarily Ironman mode.

No it wouldn't thats why its always been a double standard thing. People on his stream even argue that using the Paratrooper bug is cheating or that selling out Ally land in coalition wars makes it invalid. THats also why he tags on additional challenges for himself cuz Ironman is just too easy to cheese.

Watching LegendofTW its the same thing, some people say its invalid if he cheeses in anyway cuz "everyone can do it with cheese"

coming back to florryworry, his campaigns usually lose the "kick" factor the moment he reaches the breaking point, you know what I mean, when you are too big to fail, so this is where his extra challenges come into play, cuz the vague illusion of challenge in Ironman

Now allowing achievements in Bronzeman (my favourite tbh) there wouldnt really be any argument against it that doesnt end up being some double standard thing. Cuz people just like to "FEEL" that there is a challenge, for me personally Ironman prevents me from also taking "Manpower loans" which I love to do I even pay them back

IF you dont play Ironman you always have that feeling at the back of the head "Whats the point if I can just "Integrate ENG" to get "Stiff Upper Lippe" instantly?" Even if I could also get it in Ironman by just loading up your save file where you are 1 peace deal away from unlocking it e.g.

Now the people who downvote your arguments are die hard by the rules players. someone I know NEVER scums if he fucks up he just restarts. Playing how it was meant to be played in Ironman but thats a Topic on its own.

The only way I could see is to make Ironman saves server side so you really cant do anything to it but you are now at the mercy of stable internet and paradox / cloud servers.

Saying that the whole point of Ironman mode is that you can’t load is just not true, because you obviously can, just in a restricted way and besides there are other features of Ironman mode that I would say are far more impactful and defining: no console and no switching countries. All OP is saying is that he doesn’t like the current way it restricts saving/loading and I would agree. There are probably better ways to restrict runs to a single save file.

I for one always play Ironman and make external backups quite a lot, because this game frequently lies to me, does not work as intended or is buggy and runs simply take far too much time to just think ‘a well, I’ll just start over again‘ after hours and hours of play simply because of some weird shit going on with the game.
Ironman mode while making backups still throws up a barrier to savescumming (nevermind the fact that the whole game needs to restart every time, which takes my old computer countless excruciating minutes), while disabling the far more cheaty ways of fixing the game your way, and I agree there could very well be a way for the game to accomodate this without us having to go to external files.

no, op doesnt say that, he says he wants to be able to save state and return to it, and explains that he can already do it by abusing loopholes, so he should be able to do it by design as well, that goes directly against what the word ironman is about

ironman is not about being able to save or not, but it is about not being able to rollback

this would clearly not be a problem for op if ironman offered nothing but its name, thats why I mention that maybe his actual objective is to be able to obtain achievements on normal mode, then he would likely never touch ironman as hes not interested on limiting his rollback ability

I like ironman, that's the only way I've been playing for years, but tying achievements to ironman is dumb as hell when you can still save scum all that you want in ironman, it's just slightly less convenient than normal game mode.
