I stated my argument. If you want to address it, its right there. Repeating "why don't you just turn it off" is intellectually lazy and essentially the equivalent of saying "no u". If you have nothing else to say on the matter, fine, but there's no need to keep posting, we've got it already.
Ironman does not do what it claims to do (you can still savescum as much as you want, there's dozens of ways to abuse the game to get anything you want and still be in ironman, there's dozens of different ways to unlock achevos). Its a broken feature and it always has been. Fixing it would take far, far, far more effort than can ever be justified (and would also likely be illegal for many nations). If there's a feature that's broken (which Ironman objectively is as it does not accomplish its stated goals) and cannot be fixed, it should be removed. There's already replacement systems for auto-saving; the only other things that Ironman does are simple self-control issues (if you don't want to use the console, don't use the console) which aren't worth making or keeping a feature for.
It's just unofficial community law, like in XCOM. Making copies is looked down upon but can be justified. It's mostly for bragging rights and justification of pride and accomplishment.
Now watching florryworry on VH normal mode is just not as exciting as watching him in Ironman, even if he birds, its just not the same, Ironman just adds this "kick" on top.
Now all your arguments are solid but in the case of Ironman its more of a "feel" kind of thing if you dig? You said it yourself, making changes to it is pointless, people just make copies of the saves anyway even if you allowed 3 saves per run and its basically just playing like normalmode but with more hassle of loading an older save, only that this mode has a "kick" to it that normalmode never will have, neither in EU4 nor in XCOM.
