The employer line in the character file makes sure they start at their proper court, which currently is hardly the case. I've only considered the earliest 1066 start here and mainly Normans as I was playing a lot of Apulia when I started getting bothered by this, so more are possible.

Following contains only the changed characters, new lines in dark orange.

The sons of Tostig Godwinson remained in Norway until their deaths, and certainly didn't return to England:

Normandy.
I've placed every norman in the history database I could track down to Willy the Conker's invasion at his court or his sons, until they're dead or landed anyway. This to prevent them from popping up in Apulia if the player plays nearby.
Likewise normans who were active in Apulia or later in Byzantium have been placed at Robert Guiscard's court.

A sidenote, exactly who is the second Thomas of Kent (5690) supposed to be? Is he a duplicate for 5686?

You could probably add some Saxons to this list, too. Currently the eldest Godwin boys (Godwine, Eadmund and Magnus) all appear in Lothian, even though they ought to remain in Dublin until they die.

Also, may I suggest using dark orange text for amendments? It's much easier to read.

I'll look into saxons soon(ish), currently I'm having fun playing as the Russkis. I'll replace the colour - didn't realize it was hard to see :)

Do you have a reference for the Godwin boys being in Ireland before October 1066? According to Wikipedia (and their current character files) they aren't supposed to go to Ireland until after Harold is killed.

No, that's correct. They fled to Ireland after Hastings, but I mean if you load up after their patron dies (for example, the Alexiad scenario) then they all randomly appear at Gospatrick's court in Lothian. Maybe this is WAD, but I've not heard anything about them ever being there. As far as I am aware they fled to Ireland in 1066 and are presumed to have died there.

Ah, gotcha. Probably happens because they only have the first ruler set, and the guy dies sometime before they do. I'll look up the next rulers of Leinster/Dublin and add them in their character files to the top post.

Yeah, that should be fine. His two youngest sons were Harold and Ulf. Harold was brought up in the Norwegian court and later accompanied Magnus III (?) in an invasion of Orkney. He should stay in the Norwegian court until he dies, which I think is currently correct.

His twin brother Ulf should be raised in William's court, and at some point join Robert Curthose (he sided with him against his father). It's not known what happened to him after that but in CK II he dies in 1103, which is about 30 years before Robert, so he should be with Harold, then William after he becomes king, and then Robert at some point later until he dies.

This is who the elder Godwin boys sided with, so just have them be in the court of whoever succeeded him (his son?) after he dies.

Yup, that's who I picked.
Harald needed his last employer for the 1100s, Ulf was already fine.
I've no doubt there are hundreds more possible characters (one simple example: putting future bishops as employees in their bishoprics before they gain the title), but I think my main focus of the William the Conqueror scenario (misplaced normans and some saxons) should with this be fixed.

I don't think you realize how huge this project is going to be if you plan to get the correct employers for every character. It's huge. :)

The fact that children and spouses of barons' don't stay in the barony upon start is one problem. Imagine that. Infants in foreign courts and the mothers in another while the father is sitting in his barony rolling thumbs. It have to be broken.

It is indeed a great deal of work if one were to attempt it across the board, but as jordarkelf says, the 1066 scenario is the most popular and many people play as the Normans or Saxons, so I think this is a very useful list of corrections. :)

Voy, you can of course provide a separate list of such suggestions for the Scandinavian families once you post your next batch of corrections. ;)

Oh, I perfectly realize that. That's why I limited my scope to just the one setup.
I tend to fix things in my own mod as I come across them, so when I started this it was just the norman misplacements -
I intend to fix most misplaced infants with a custom event that runs only one time within days of game start (checks for a global flag), and moves all children who are not already fosterlings (has_guardian = no) to their father's court if he is alive, but something like that can't be done for adults easily.

Might just do so. There where some Swedish princes and later kings who resides in Denmark at times and then got some help to siege the crown in Sweden. And ofc the Hvide boys all resides in the royal court as they held most of the council positions throughout the 12th and 13th century.
