I think DC isn't gamey at all, because if the US prefers to send dozens of units into Mexico and building 30 dreadnoughts to having one or two proper infantry divisions in DC, they deserve the "poor strategic choices trophy" we had almost taken off the British hands with losing Gibraltar.

I have a slightly different opinion than the people condemning the Venice landing, I think it was a reasonable choice for a landing site because the Venice/Triest/Dalmatia region is rich in ports, and could have endangered the significant Austro-German unit stacks in Piedmont.

Maybe France slightly overestimated her forces in Eastern France, especially since they had gained a few insignificant provinces with the troops they had been amassing there. But that new position was more susceptible to a German counterattack, and everyone knows very few things are certain in war, but a German counterattack is. I was suprised by the success, we weren't really planning for a major offensive in France. Excellent execution by Archam, iirc the only thing I did there was encouraging comments and adressing the Venice situation with our reserves.

I think US had just one militia in DC just because the AI placed it there and didn't have much time to send some more there. Oddly enough, it was the Allies who insisted on having USA in the war immediatelly, totally neglecting that US player is pretty much stuck with the deployment of his units. But then comes to mind the... herm, defence of Rome I had to "overcome" with my marines... :unsure:

The Venice Trieste landing had a good chance of working...a year ago. It would have taken the British army conducting the landing while the French push from the border. As it is now, the operation was almost 100% French, and the Entente overestimated their abilities there me thinks.

Also, about the Venice landing. Last game was won by the Entente when chiefly mine and Archam's glorious Russian counterattack shattered the CP lines in Galicia and Estonia...and then a small factor was that the British conducted a successful landing on the coast, took Trieste with Italian help and were marching on Vienna. 9 times out of 10 I'm against a Adriatic vacation, but occasionally it pays off big (that said we've seen the British army annihilated twice with a Adriatic vacation before lol).

We should have gotten Vancouver but we got distracted with Mexico

Mexico is gonna need a large German garrison in peacetime if they retake the lost territories
