I tried a planet where Psi-fish was at war with every player starting from turn 1 and my scout found an event to stop the war on turn 4. Every AI is still at war, it made my game much easier.
Later I tried another planet where Growth was at war with every player starting from turn 1 and in just 6 turns I accumulated 30 influence and 150 energy and stopped the war. Growth is still at war with everyone else.
Is it expected? It is weird that the trait has high value for awards yet it makes the game actually easier for human player.

True, I approached the problem in the same way and managed to quickly integrate the NPC faction, which was still warring with everyone else. Perhaps an increase in AI aggression, frequent demands and/or increased negotiation costs are in order.

After playing more I believe it should not be possible to make peace with the NPC, all AIs had serious military problems with Psi-fish all game and human player should have them too.
Honestly I believe that this wouldn't be a good solution. There are also secondary objectives that incline you to integrate the NPC faction with which you start at war. I believe a better solution would be to allow, or make it easier for the AI to enter a ceasefire with NPC factions they're at war.
