Hello,

I'm playing as a king. I have secured an empire title for my dynasty member and made him heir to my throne so that I can take control of the empire. However the moment I died the emperor title has been removed from my new character with no apparent reason and all I got was some counties while the empire title went back to someone from the dynasty of previous owners. Am I missing something?

Thank you.

I don't see what that has to do with my problem. My man is already the emperor. How does it matter how odd the succession of Byzantines with Born in the Purple is when they don't hold the emperor title anymore? I loaded the game and looked at my emperors line of succession and all 3 are Piast.

Also, what succession has to do with this at all? The emperor title is not being succeeded. My man has the emperor title and then inherits another title: King of Poland. Nothing happens to the emperor title except that it is magically being stolen.

Are you sure that it is the inheritance that caused the loss of the Emperor-title, rather than some plot or war going on around the time of your previous' characters death?

Wait what? Let me see if I get this straight: You play as the King of Poland. Your heir is a member of your dynasty who is the Byzantine Emperor. Your king dies. Your heir takes over but is King of Poland and not the Byzantine Emperor. If this is what happened, it does sound like your heir lost the title before your character died, especially since it worked out for you when you loaded an old save game. Otherwise I'm not sure what could cause this behavior.

As a side note: are there any ways to accelerate your own death?

Going on hunting trips and choosing the options which lead to injury is the main way in vanilla.

This question pops up so much. The devs really need to do something to encourage old kings to live for longer, otherwise it just gets silly with us actually trying to kill our king. Or they could just let us play as our landed heir by choice.
