Ok so I have been playing the game all day today and have been loving it. I started out as the Earl of the Isle of Man and now 7 or maybe 8 generations later I am now King of Scotland, King of Ireland, King of Wales, and King of Norway with high Crown Authority in each. I have been playing very gamey because I am pretty new at these kind of games especially this one. As for my question, is it possible to create an Empire in the base game. I have been looking for this information all over, and from what I came up with is that in the original CK you could create an Empire if you had 5 kingdoms under you. But as for this game I read that there are only two Empires HRE and BE. Is this true and if it is how can I mod the game to add a new Empire while being able to continue playing my save file because I would love to have the Empire of Britannia or a United Kingdoms or something of the like.

"Empire" in this game, and in the medieval times, strictly referred to the Roman Empire, and thus its direct descendants, the Holy Roman Empire and Byzantium/Eastern Roman Empire.

Still, there ARE at least four empire-level titles (the two above, plus two for muslims that you can't see/have) in the base game, plus many more if you use mods in the Mod Section which you need to register to access (which I can't see myself, since I'm only leeching of my friend's copy, with his permission of course even though he won't let me use his account)

so to answer his question, he can't unify his kingdoms into a new official "Empire" without a mod? I'm interested in this as well.

no.
besides, the mechanic for the game regarding empires is that they are de jure, or rather pre-defined. In other words, you can define which places are under which empire out-of-game, but not define it in-game.

There are titular empires, though they have no provinces assigned to them. Though that would still require a mod to do.
