The Years of War
My longest post yet:

January-July
The first act of the new year was on the 15th of February, when Mamuk Khan orders the expansion of the fortress in Orenberg, and more troops are recruited in Astrakhan.
We continue to keep good relations with Crimea. We hope to vassalize them so we don't have to call on our allies to support us in the war to go across Crimean territory. If they don't support us, then the alliance would be sundered, and we would have to rely on Russia to reinvite them, and we don't want to take the chance that they don't.
On March 6, we send our final group of colonvicts to Alga. We hope to somehow gain some more before the war with Georgia, so the additional resources the city would command would greatly help in the war effort.
On April Fools' Day, our merchants approach Mamuk Khan with wonderful news! Our merchants have become so confident with their line of work that they feel they can journey to Centers of Trade and earn us money [trade level 1- early renaissance]. We immediately send one to Astrakhan to compete with Russian, Crimean, Turkish, and Teuton merchants in the markets.
Exactly one month later, the Council of Infrastructure delivers more good news. They have developed a workable technique for the implementation of taxes [inf. level 1- early renaissance]. We immediately take advantage of this and begin shopping around for a suitable official for the capital.
The Khan grows restless. "This life has grown pointless!" he tells me in one of our numerous correspondences. He is hungry for blood. With over 60 thousand troops under his command, he is confident that we can crush Georgia. Despite all my efforts to dissuade him, he sets the date for the war on August 15th. We must prepare...
My cavalry force rides southwest to Astrakhan to meet Mamuk. He is going to give command of a large contingent of infantry to take on the walls of the second province of Georgia to prevent troop recruitment.
August
On August 1st, a massive revolt occurs right under Mamuk's nose. 35 thousand former Astrakhanis rebel against our governent. They are put down in a week, but at some 4000 casualties to our army. It is a large army, so the losses are not as bad as they could have been, but it is still a blow to Mamuk that rebel sentiments could have persisted for so long.
The next day, my forces arrive, reinforcing the cavalry sections of our regiments, but the infantry is still weak. We almost rescheduled our war plans, but decided against it. August 15th it is.
The Georgian War: 8/12/95-3/25/96
August 15: We Declare War.
Greece, Ryazan, and Pskov dishonor our alliance, but thankfully, Russia, Portugal, and most importantly Crimea rally to our cause. Crimea has large armies across the border, one under direct control of their Khan, which we hope they don't bring to the front. We hope to absorb Georgia entire to get their port, and we don't need power struggles interfering with our sieges.
On October 12, the Khan's men and his Crimean supporters besiege the capital in Sochi, while my men arrive in Georgia. The Georgian army was wiped out in Crimean Kouban days before, so our sieges persist undisturbed.
By November 5th, the city my forces are besieging is in flames, and I order an assault.
In a week, the city is ours, and my troops turn west to Sochi to quicken the capitol's demise.
On December 2nd, an undisciplined rabble of Georgian farmers attack our sieging armies under Mamuk and are promptly destroyed. Shortly afterward, an ambassador from the city approaches with an offer of Georgia in exchange for peace. He is turned away within seconds. We want the seaport and will settle for nothing less...
On the 10th, my soldiers arrive in Sochi, and, emboldened by this, the Khan orders an assault on the capitol.Through some weakness in the Crimean commander, they manage to rout our forces. More reinforcements are on the way from Crimea, so a follow-up shouldn't be too far away.

January-July
On February 15th, after months of sieging, our men assault the much-weakened walls [-3] of Sochi with the help of some 10000-odd men of Crimea. Even so, our forces are turned away, but I predict the city will fall within three months...
Early in March, two items arrive that are of great interest to us. The former Russian Alliance member, Greece, has joined the Danes in their alliance. More news from the Russian Alliance is more encouraging, though. Kazan, a neighbor of Ryazan and Russia, has been invited to join our alliance. I think that Russia may be aiming to use the dishonorance of our alliance as a justification of a war of conquest against Ryazan....
25 days into March, my prediction came true. Sochi falls, and we deliver a ultimatum to the King of the fallen nation: a pledge of fealty and servitude to Mamuk Khan, or death for him and his people. He wisely chooses the former.
August-December
September 1 brings a midsized rebellion in Sochi (13000 men) which is put down in less than a week.
On the 18th day of September, a representative of the North African Empire of the Hafsid Dynasty proposing the marriage of two prominent figures in our respective royal families. Seeking to improve relations with nations around the world, we reply affirmatively, and the bond is sealed.
In Mid-October, our wise Khan gives the order to appoint a taxcollector in the former capital of Georgia. This is an effort to raise population in order to recruit more men to replace the casualties of the Georgian War.
November goes quietly, as does December, only interrupted by the news that a nation called Algiers established dynastic ties with our friends the Hafsids.

January
Strange news from Kurgan. Mamuk Khan has been overthrown by his brother Abalak, who now wears the title of Khan. Mamuk is furious.
"I will not stand for this!" Mamuk shouted.
"There is no need to yell, my liege, I am sure th--"
"No need to yell?NO NEED TO YELL!?!? My brother just claimed the throne that is rightfully mine!"
"I'm sure it's just a misun--"
"Just be quiet! I will not drop my title as Khan, and I will never let down my army! If we were not locked in by Crimean and Persian territory, I would ride to Ishimbay right now and cut off his head!!"
"Perhaps we need not be trapped in, my lord."
"I'm listening..."
"To our east, there are Persian lands. Minimally fortified, they are guarded only by 951 men for the both of them. If we can regain all casualties lost in the war, we can quickly overrun them both, and use Armenia as a bargaining chip for Azerbajdzan, which would connect our two stretches of territory."
"I like the idea... TO ARMS!!"
"No, no, wait, my friend. We must replace our casualties first, then wait for Persia to be in another state of unrest and rebellion. Then we strike...."
In preparation for this, a total of 4000 infantry are raised in former Georgia, and [5000/1000] in Astrakhan. The rightful Khan looks more and more gleeful as he hears the rising sounds of steel and hoof.
February-August
On the 15th, the Khan and I bring the Horde to Georgia, in order to be closer to our respective targets.
The same day, meaningful new arrives. War! Spain declares on Navarra, whose allies of Venice, the Mameluks, and Serbia all support her. Spain's allies, excepting England, all join as well. Europe bursts into flames.
Then, all that is left in Europe begins to smolder. Finland declares war on Spain, whose allies all support her, but Finland's allies support them as well. Turkey, Vinland, Sweden, and Scotland jump into the fray.
A month after the Horde arrives, on April 4, our recruits are finished with their training. We start looking for more in Georgia and Astrakhan, all infantry for now.
June 9: Tragedy. Mamuk Khan is assassinated. By his brother. Abalak was seen escaping from the camp shortly after Mamuk was found dead with a dagger in his heart. This is truly a sad day, but the Khan's plan will go on undisturbed. I will personally lead the assault on Armenia, and then ride east to Azerbajdzan.
3 Days later comes the end of the Navarro-Spanish War. Navarra is no more, and Spain grows ever stronger.
The First Persian War: 8/12/97-1/15/98
War is declared on August 12th. Russia and Portugal dishonor the pact, but Kazan and ever-helpful Crimea join me.
Early in September, my forces arrive in Armenia, while our new recruits from Astrakhan arrive in our real target province. The city in Armenia proves a pushover. It falls in 2 days.
On the 25th of September, soon after my arrival with the bulk of the army, we receive some unwelcome visitors. 6000 Persian disrupt the siege, but are undisciplined and are annihilated in 3 days. We return to the siege.
During this time it comes to my attention that Russia has rejoined our alliance through the goodness of its new leader's heart (Crimea).
It is good to have a good friend at the head, but I can't help but feel that we are a more suitable choice....
Portugal, on the other hand, has thrown their lot in with Eire and England, one of the only alliances not at war.
On October 28th, we have our first real battle since the conquest of Astrakhan. 35K Persians vs. 62,000 combined Sibir-Crimean forces. This looks like vast superiority, and it is. The battle is over on November 1st with less than 3000 Persians limping off the field.
Not wanting to try my luck against any stronger armies the Persians may have, I order an assault on the same day. The walls, though weakened [-1] stay up, and we will have to try again once the morale returns to normal.
The morale never gets back up, but on January 12th, the city defenses surrender, and Azerbadjzan is ours!
We send a representative demanding the province in exchange for peace. His head is sent back in a basket, so, I guess they'd like to keep it for a while. We will wait a month and try again.
Apparently, the sight of our Crimean allies heading towards Tabriz made them change their minds, because three days later they return our offer of Azerbajdzan, and we accept, finally connecting the two halves of our realm.
