Court Chaplain Velazquez and the Bishopric of Grenada announce that they wish to interview those who have experience the Phoenix War firsthand, so as to better preserve the memory of such a seminal period.

((If you want, IC a personal history of the Pheonix War. The victors get to write history, and the Archbishopric has a lot of printing presses. ;) ))

Velazquez traveled near Grenada, Valencia, and Rome, basically the only places he could ever be. Sometimes he wondered if becoming Pope was worth it. But then he remembered why he did it. Not because he wanted fame, or glory, or power. He simply wanted to serve. Serve his King. Serve his God.

Even then, the Pope could not be seen traveling alone, so he often disguised himself as a lowly friar. In order to aid the historical studies of the Archbishopric, Velazquez had sent many out to find accounts of their experiences during the Phoenix War, and Velazquez himself had decided to travel to the Military Academy. He interviewed a veteran of the Loyalist Exercit Madrid. Though he was now a grizzled teacher, the officer could remember it like it was yesterday.

"My brigade rose up against me. Me! Their leader, I had never done anything wrong. But the Usurper, he corrupted them, destroyed their young lives. And Villanova! Such a good man, but he, too, turned against us. All in the name of that unworthy bastard! If General Leon hadn't come in time..."

Velazquez, seeing the man was done, thanked him and left. He continued traveling through the halls of the academy.

((And then he saw a ghost! ;) ))

Faixòn saw no need to keep the war policies enacted. Though as the war created a new Hispania, there should be a new symbol for it. As for the Greeks, they could deal with themselves. His word wouldn't matter much, so he just told it to the assembly member representing his native Pyrenean region, who thought similarly anyway.

Fausto drifted aimlessly as he had for the past few years, appearing and disappearing to avoid scaring people. He was bored, but he enjoyed the academy, he could keep up with the news or hear the strategies that students thought up. Few students have seen Fausto, those who have either say nothing and avoid being called crazy or just believe they had been hallucinating, of course some of the staff knew of Fausto's presence, but most were simply too cynical and old to care.

Today he noticed something odd, a man in religious garb? Being interested Fausto floated by the man, invisible, but the man noticeably shivered. At that moment Fausto knew that the man was aware of his presence and appeared in front of the man. Fausto realizing who the man was, took the form from his glory days as Field Marshal, shiny hook and all, and asked a single question.

"Velazquez, what is it you want here?"

The new Minister of Trade, some unambitious man high up in the ranks of the TATC, proposes that the first stage of rebuilding the trade fleets of East Africa and Asia begin. He recommends that the Flotas Aden, Ceylon, and Malacca be recreated, starting off with roughly 10-20 light ships each, provided funds are available.

The new Minister of Finance, a bureaucrat who served faithfully under Alvaro, merely keeps the status quo by following the former minister's pan.

As Velazquez passed through hallways empty due to the soldiers drilling, he suddenly felt a chill, which reminded him of the myth that Villanova was still roaming the halls, as an ethereal presence. Of course, no one believe it, but it was still something joked about.

But Velazquez realized there was more to it than myth. He saw Villanova appear before him, dressed as a Hispanian Field Marshal. Velaazquez crossed himself, and then decided he would take the risk. This image could be the Devil incarnate, but how would he know if he never asked him?

"I come here for knowledge. Tell me, who are you, and why do you look like the traitor Villanova? If you are the Devil, then know Lord Savior Jesus Christ is my protector.

Faixòn smiled at the opposition the Dowager Empress faced. The perfect way to lose her support, though it will likely take some more time.

The German ambassador gave Velazquez a book as a gift as he heard of the man's desire to record experiences of the Phoenix War. The book, written in French, had the title 'Le phénix d'Hispanie - l'idée d'une nouvelle nation'. (The Hispanian Phoenix - the idea of a new nation) Unaware that he had been elected Pope, the man only knew Velazquez as the Court Chaplain and thought it would be a good idea. He smiled as he handed over the book.
"Archbishop Velazquez, if you wish a full representation of the war, then you should read these pages. This work analyses the many reasons that led to the conflict, the mistakes of both sides, before taking a close look at the arguments and proposed solutions, after which a short chapter is consecrated to the war itself, while the aftermath is closely analysed again, before the author details his opinion of a functioning state. You may certainly not like the depiction of your predecessor, but the book is fairly objectively written, may you share the conclusions or not. If you read it carefully and without prejudice towards the author, who wrote it in cooperation with the other creators of our German nation during its formation process, I am certain it will help you not to repeat past mistakes and gain the insights on the other side of the war you are looking for. The conclusion may also provide you with a better understanding of our nation, our motives, and further assure you of our goodwill towards Hispania."

Fausto scoffed at the idea of being the Devil. "If I was any sort of infernal creature, would not your holy presence cause me pain? The reason I look like Fausto Villanova is because I am him." Fausto then decided to question Velazquez about the knowledge he was seeking. "What is it you are seeking anyway? We have as long as you need, I'm not, er... can't go anywhere." He shows this by trying to exist through a wall and is thrown, forcefully, back in.

((Time to close the vote. Seeing as we now have a parliament with two houses, the votes are tallied a bit differently, with the Assembly and Cortz counted separately. If the outcome in both houses differs, I will explicitly state so.

Flag: Old in Assembly, New in Cortz
Field Priests & Soldier's Prayer Books: Remove
Modern Firearm Techniques: Remove in Assembly, Keep in Cortz
Superior Supply Systems: Keep
Send Byzantium Aid: Yes

As you can see, the Flag and Modern Firearm Techniques votes turned out differently in each house. Seeing as they failed to pass both houses, we go with the status quo, so the old flag and keeping the policy. I'll get to the playthrough shortly.))
