I'm not sure if that's what you're looking for, but opening the cheat console and typing in "event 23102" will turn you into a monarchy.

Who's the monarch in that case? If ye remember. I'll check it tomorow if ye don't. :)

Brazil offers many and interesting opportunities for expansion: Paraguay and Ecuador are simply *begging* for you to Brazilianise them, and your country is a theoretical magnet for immigrants.

It's a good nation for beginners because you can easily take the country in different directions, try out the different aspects of the game without being slammed with events that steer you off-course.

I was thinking that there was an event for Brazil to take you from a CM back to a full-fledge monarchy, or was it a Presidential Dictatorship, or was that in VIP. Hang it all! I lose track. ;)

I really should start up Victoria again one of these days. I always wanted to create a greater Rio de La Plata from the Falklands to Rio Grande (and maybe beyond :D ).

This beginer is just planing on holding the Constitutional Monarchy, while the economy (hopefully) develops, and perhabs a litle expantion in South America. Don't wanna anex any huge chuncks of spanish-speaking land though.

Playing VIP from the start btw - so thanks for your mirrors, they were mighty helpfull :)

You're welcome. Glad to be of help.

Starting with VIP? Mighty ambitious of you. I tried VIP early on in my playing and found it had too many events that only managed to enrage me while I was trying to learn the game. I backed off to play vanilla for a couple of years before I came back to VIP, which I now thoroughly love.

Not saying you can't do it different. Just relating my own experience.

Thanks. I knew it was one or the other. I believe I jumped directly into going with a Democracy, only to have another event move me back to a CM again. Or am I having a stroke? :D

VIP is more challenging than vanilla, but as soon as you're used to it you'll love the added flavour events. Maintain the constitutional monarchy and try to keep the liberals in power. Because it's just cool to have an Emperor in charge and the liberals will help you to attract immigrants ant improve your economy. And be assured there are quite a lot opportunities for brazilian expansion.

@GrimPagan: Then you might want to check out my signature. (shameless self-advertising :D)
