I`m playing this game with Japanese language mod. So, changing empire names is serious problem. The ship prefix breakes, and all my new ships become nameless!
Please Paradox, add an option to lock my empire`s name!

No not fixed. Changed my empire name earlier from Terran Republic to Sol Commonwealth which has lead to the interesting situation where other empires now refer to my citizens as Sol.

It's great how this isn't fixed but they're pushing things such as limiting Silos to 1 per planet because the AI can't properly build planets. It feels a lot as if they're building a game for the Ai rather than the human players at this point. :(

Continued from here: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/empire-name-changes.977108/
Posting twice since I really want to know what the community feels about this and I felt like I posted this thread in the wrong place.

I've noticed that since 1.3 that when I change governments my empire name changes as well, this never happened in the older patches. I've also noticed that custom AI empires also has their name changed whenever they change their government to advance or get vassalized by another empire.

In the older patches, it was only randomly generated empires that get their name changed. This complaint is more of a minor pet peeve on my part as most of the new features of the patch are great. I personally hate having to change my empire name back to the original I've given it once I've changed my government type. For custom AI empires, I'll create the Imperium of Man for example, and once they change their government or get vassalized, they will rename themselves to the "Man Star Republic" or something like that.

Its rather annoying and I was wondering if there is a way to change this back to the old ways where only randomly generated empires are allowed to change their names.
Again, a minor peeve, but it's extremely annoying for role-playing reasons.

I find it annoying too that I have to rename my own empir too.

But I actually enjoy that the AI Empires change their name when their government form changes.
It somewhat gives me the Illusion that they had a "rebellion/revolution" within their empire or something like that.

Though I think I just dont like anything which is to static.

For custom empires it would be nice to be able to either:

1. Force the original name to persist across government types.
2. Define a list of names (and even flag/symbol/colors) for each distinct government type. So an "Imperium of Man" based on Terra could become the "Terran Republic" if it changes to a democracy, for example.

Not high on my wishlist, but it would be awesome to have some say in how a nation appears as it undergoes changes in government.

Wiz said the team was working on a compromise, though sadly they never said anything about it yet.

I prefer the old name system before the Kennedy patch. The problem is that the random names and suffix is messing with the localization of non-English games.
before Kennedy only random AI empires changed names. Now everyone gets it. I personally don't like this, Stellaris isn't Victoria 2 or Hearts of Iron, so I feel that the random names are more of a nuisance than anything else.

That's a rather random, non-sequetur at this point. One does not correlate with the other.

If you still notice this happening report it in the bug reports section with a save and pics so it can be looked into.

Also, this a thread necro, please do not revive old threads, start new ones. Thread closed.
