I've noticed that since 1.3 that when I change governments my empire name changes as well, this never happened in the older patches. I've also noticed that custom AI empires also has their name changed whenever they change their government to advance or get vassalized by another empire.

In the older patches, it was only randomly generated empires that get their name changed. This complaint is more of a minor pet peeve on my part as most of the new features of the patch are great. I personally hate having to change my empire name back to the original I've given it once I've changed my government type. For custom AI empires, I'll create the Imperium of Man for example, and once they change their government or get vassalized, they will rename themselves to the "Man Star Republic" or something like that.

Its rather annoying and I was wondering if there is a way to change this back to the old ways where only randomly generated empires are allowed to change their names.
Again, a minor peeve, but it's extremely annoying for role-playing reasons.

I had that too. It happened with my United Nations of Earth and it became completely something else. The Commonwealth of Man (in the game and I wasn't too happy that they were there) became the Human Combine and the fictional USSR nation I created became the Human Continuity. It was annoying to see 3 human nations.

Also the ship prefix name changes so I was ticked off by that.

I know you can prevent the Commonwealth from spawning by editing the 00_prescripted_countries.txt inside the Stellaris Steam Folder.
Just edit spawn_enabled = yes # yes / no / always for the first yes to say no. You can do the same for UNE.

Well thank you! But I'd want to ask this: How do you prevent the involuntary ship prefix name change whenever I change to an advanced form of government? For example, whenever I become a Democratic Utopic, the ship prefix changes from USS to SCS.

Sadly, I have no idea.

I was hoping someone would help me with that, either the developers rolling back to the old name system or someone can look into it and create a mod dealing with that.
