With Imperial Fiefdom joining the ranks of Lost Colony, Common Ground, and Hegemon as an AI-generating Origin, there seems to be an increasing demand for secondary empire templates, akin to secondary species for Syncretic Evolution, Rogue Servitor, Driven Assimilator, and Necrophage empires.

We should be able to customize the other empire somewhat, or even link directly to other empire designs, allowing us to create connections similar to the one between UNE and CoM.

As long as "allow custom secondary empires" is a game setting we can toggle on and off. I'd imagine many multiplayer groups would want to avoid buffing these origins that much for balance reasons.
Most multiplayer groups ban AI-generating empires altogether, so I can't imagine that being much of an issue.

My multiplayer group forbids them because they create AIs. there's a specific carve-out in that rule that says you can do it if you have players willing to take over the AIs generated. It then becomes avoided because not many people want to choose random empires.

If you could pre-select an already created empire to spawn as your vassal/overlord/scion/federation member, players who wanted to play together could have the host or the person taking the origin build out the builds they want to play as, and then their partners builds, and I suspect we would see more use of this mechanic.

You could even make it so that if players coordinate and send each other the designs, they can link each other's copy of the design, and if the game recognizes matching empire keys, linked together on both ends, it actually automatically puts them beside each other without the need for hot-joins.

Would not people just made trash empires on purpose so they can just take over...? It would work if when used on Multiplayer, the Origin default the AI-generated empires to random, ignoring the playerdesign.

At the same time some love and attention for the spawn points would be ideal. The majority of times I play a Federation or Hegemony start one of my AI buddies gets blocked in by me and the other one. I feel like it would be less of a faff if the placement was more spread out rather than being the usual location of guaranteed habitable worlds.

Who cares? Let people play the way they want in singleplayer.

I support the idea proposed by the OP. At minimum I want to be able to use the existing secondary species UI elements to design the species of the generated empire.

What you said isn't what I said...? I even presented a solution to multiplayer.
You did, though.

"Would not people just made trash empires on purpose so they can just take over...?"

And to that I responded, "So what?"

If your multiplayer group is concerned about someone exploiting it, then they can just ban the origin (as many competitive groups probably will anyway). Why restrict it for those multiplayer groups that won't exploit it? Not everyone tries to min/max.

I think, lost colony is a little bit lame. The relation between the two nations is like between 2 random nations. It would be awesome to give lost colony some cool updates.

So there could be a seperate secondary empire designer, where you select which kinda of secondary empire you are designing.
For lost colony you could customise the government type along with ethics and civics. Origin is locked since its a partnered empire. Trait are portait would also be locked obviously.
For common ground hegemon you could select portrait, traits, ethics, civics origin is locked to prosperous unification.
For the new overlord from fiefdom you could select traits, ethic and civic i believe are locked froming looking at the preveiw. Would have custom origin where they are leader of the fiefdom.
You dont really need the ability to customise the other vassals of fiefdom as i believe and regular fiefdom start empires all get spawned under the same overlord.

Probally also need a folder system for empire managment so it's easier to sort custom empires.
