if you release it as a vassal, it will switch religion IIRC, idea is good however

The Kingdom of Jeruzalem isn't a revolter and you can release them as avassal.

Even a nation that can arise but that is set to not revolt is called "revolter" ... "Revolter" aka nation that can pop up somehow in the game.

Sorry, I should have been more specific.

It's a "Revolter" in that it can be formed. But it is set to "Revolt = no" meaning that it won't revolt on its own.

You can release it as a vassal.

Also, if someone followed by instructions to the letter, I said after you release it as a catholic vassal, save your game and reload, switching your nation to play as the Caliphate.

This is also how you play games as Sicily, Jerusalem, and Persia (in various campaigns).
