If you play as ademocracy or an oligarchy, you can prematurely call for elections, at the cost of some prestige.

Has anyone here ever done this? If yes, why?

I have had leaders with the Nervous trait (-20% fleet cap). During peace, this is not a big deal, but if someone declares war and I need to rapidly build up my fleet, this sometimes requires getting rid of that -20% penalty.

I Use it for oligarchies if i don't have the influence to choose the leader i want at the time of the election. Sometimes it feels like the really bad ones are weighted.

If they tweaked some of the less than stellar government leader traits it wouldn't be so bad, but almost half of the traits are extremely limited and barely provide any added benefits while others are very large buffs that are good the entire duration of the leader not just when you build a space port, etc.

Agendas are the same way, but only 2 of 6 are bad vs 11+ leader traits (generally you'll only ever need 1 of the 4 ship focus'es with the other 3 providing little to no value)
