First I gotta say: WtT truly shines with majors like Germany, ironically not the Chinese factions which are the focus of the expansion.
Now to the new embedded airforce feature. As you all are probably aware of: you can now embed air units into armies so that they are following the assigned army like one Hobbit follows another for some reason.
My Wehrmacht in 1941 was composed of:
- 3 * 24 infantry (width 40) --> each with 200 fighters and 200 CAS
- 2 * 12 panzer divs (width 40) --> each with 200 fighters and 200 CAS
- 1 * 12 mountain divs (width 18) --> with 200 fighters and 200 CAS
- 1 * 50 garrison (width 12)
Having 1200 fighters and 1200 CAS tied to armies, didn't leave me with a lot of planes to freely assign.
I figured, the embedded airforce would "greenlight" my offensive campaigns without micro'ing anyways.
The problem is: The planes stay where the majority of the assigned army is stationed.
Example "case white": Allies have air superiority over western and eastern Poland when my invasion starts. Why? Cause my embedded airforce is ruling the skies of Brandenburg and eastern Prussia where the invasion starts from. They only support the invasion force once it's already occupying the territory it's supposed to conquer.
-------------------------------------------
I would suggest that embedded airforce should stay with the assigned army until said army is starting an offensive order. Then the embedded airforce should move to the adjacent region the army is attacking.
What are your experiences with the new feature?
