Why not have an embassy as a special building, costs plenty of money and 5 diplomats, once built it gives a small increase to relations, but more importantly you no longer need to send diplomats to conduct diplomacy?

Do you mean that you wouldn't have a several days "brake" between diplomatic actions?

Well, I'm not against the idea. However what I rather prefer embassy to do is to not let mutual relations to gradually get worse - as it was the case in Vic.
I mean, if you didn't improve relation with other nation, it used to go down by itself. I would be happy if embassy could stop this process.

I'm not sure if it should cut number of days between deplomatic actions, to be honest. These things need time.

I agree.

1) Having no waiting between diplomatic actions just seems ripe for exploitation by a gamey gamer (;))

2) Even though countries had embassies with one another it still took time for orders from the mother country to reach the embassy. Maybe instead of having a hard-coded 7 days, what should be in place is a specific waiting period for each country based on a combination of distance, technology and embassy.

If the country is closer to you it decreases wait time. If you've discovered techs like telegrams, telephones, radio, etc., wait time should further be decreased as well as when you have an embassy.

Being able to build embassies is a good idea, but I would like them to just make relations increasing be greater (for example, +15 relations in a "hardly improved", instead of a +10)

Yeah, maybe thats a better idea than mine actually. Also, if espionage is a feature of the game then it should give that a boost too.

Perhaps as a diplomatic option itself? "Establish Embassy"... The bonuses (no diplomat requirement for further actions, lower cost of actions etc...) would then apply only to that nation for which you have enabled it, at a steep cost? You might do this for every nation (no limit for the option), but the cost of it might make it a bit more of a strategic factor in terms of choice, "should I establish an embassy in Berlin or Paris hmmmmm"...

Btw, I'm against the idea completely, no hard feelings :)

I hope espionage isn't a feature. It was not significant during the period except maybe for the very end. It would end up being overpowered, as in HOI3, where Mongolia can seriously disrupt US or German research through espionage.

It's pretty stupid that your relations with a country which probably your pops never heard of goes down with time...

I mean, it shouldn't goes negative if you never interact with that nation.

I think no waiting time is not realistic and overpowered, diplomatic waiting should depends on shortest distance between capitals(not displacement though) because it takes time for messages to travel....of course, technology should lower the waiting time (just a multiplier would work)

I think there should be an action called "recognize nation" for you to have a "relations" with a nation, again, it's completely stupid that the relations of Krakow would goes down with Japan with time.

It should work like this:

when USA and CSA go to war, you recognize CSA, and your relationship with USA should drop while relations with CSA should increase.

or, when Qing Empire have the Taiping rebellions, if you reconize the rebels, your relations with Qing Empire should drop while relations with the rebels should increase.

Hopfully we won´t have a "improve relations" button any more I would much rather se a type HOI3 intelligence interface were you choose your the direction you want your embassy/diplomats to have against a certain country.

The result should, as i HOI3, come over time ie if you tell your diplomats to work for a alliance/improve relations etc they get done to business and you can focus elsewhere.

Some things should however be "decision" based, such as "establish a embassy", "form an alliance" (may need some prework though), set up a trade agreement (again some diplomatic work is needed).

Would bette represent the diplomatic work and decrease micromanaging in the form of clicking "improve relations" on everyother country.

One thing which would be cool in regards to Germany (withalot of small states) would be if you could set your position of the diplomatic work on a larger area. IE tell your diplomats to improve relations with all german states (and the possibility to uncheck some and set a specific policy for them).
