Hello fellow soon to be generals!

I remembered from HOI 3 the diplomatic action of imposing an trade embargo on another country. However, this was not very much of importance gameplaywise. I never used it and I was never much bothered if it was used against me.

But in HOI 4, the new resources, the way they work and the way they are distributed over the different countries, an embargo could be an effective strategic weapon for you or against you, depeding on which country you are playing.

I reviewed the diplomacy DD (https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/foru...evelopment-diary-5th-of-february-2016.906667/), but unfortunately no option of using an embargo is listed.

Is this DD out of date or is there really no way of using embargos at all? It would be a nice feauture gameplaywise to convince your allies to impose embargos against ideological or soon to be enemies (like it happened against Japan for example after they invaded China)

Embargoes are in the game, in the form of national foci for certain nations - for example the US has the option to trade-block USSR/JAP/GER if that's how they want to spend their tree. The idea is to make it expensive but meaningful rather than easy but irrelevant as it was before. I seem to recall a dev saying the reason why anyone can't embargo anybody is due to their anti-hindsight motif; if the future allies ganged up on the future axis asap, it would not make for good gameplay.
