What would be first DLC? Elte units? Could it be possible to promote regular units to Elite units status after a bloody heroic defence? Any ideas from developers?
This was clarified a year ago. There arent any special elite divisions in the game. There are only regular infantry battalions, which you can set to "elite" status and name whatever you want tho. That way they will always get the newest equipment first and you can also filter old equipment out.

If you got some veteran divisions you can simply swap them to one of your "elite" templates and change their name.

From what I've seen on the WWW's - here's what I would do:
Look at your units and copy their division template.
Rename this div template to "Guard Infantry" or whatever suits you. Set status to elite.
Now upgrade those units you want to this exact div template - voilá

Yeah, exactly, and this is how SS Divisions work: they are just the German motorized division template, set to elite status (which means they get priority equipment, which many SS divisions did, even if they weren't actually any better in terms of training or veterancy).

Is there any way to know if a unit is elite or not on the way they are represented on the map?
It would be nice if you could see a different color counter for those like in another games (TOAW and such)

Units set to elite status have a little copper colored chevron icon.

As already said above. you can define your own icon as a counter (you can choose from a huge list) and they get the little yellow arrows (chevrons)
