Hi CO,

I know you can already build elevated rail tracks but there really needs to be an Elevated Rail to Subway Transition like Sim City 4:
Subway-to-Elevated_Transition.png

It is a must have feature as far as I'm concerned and a gaping hole in the metro building system.

I would love the chance to build infrastructure like the Chiacgo L subway system properly.

Let me know what you think of this suggestion @co_martsu

You want an elevated light railway? Why does it have to use metro? Just build an elevated rail network and then configure it to use metro stock custom assets only, by using the AVO mod.

@BlackSheep I thought CO were busy with meteor strikes. Comets would be a disaster of global proportions. Nothing like a little pedantry with your morning coffee ;p

@Grapplehoeker Elevated Rail in SC4 was just an elevated version of subway network. The picture above shows you being able to connect the two. In that game it had nothing to do with the mainline rail network-there was another feature which allowed you to build mainline rail networks underground.

All I'm asking for is the ability to build above ground areas for the subway network which is something you cannot currently do. This is a feature that you can find in lots of real world cities

I'm sure that CO said they won't do this. However, the mod that adds ground metro and elevated metro to the city is already pretty much done. I tried the current alpha, and it's already working nicely.

If that's confirmed then that's disappointing ☹️. It would be great if it came as part of a transportation dlc of some kind. Could you please stick the link to the mod on here?

Well...

I regard the metro-system in the game as rather poor. It's introduced too early in the gameplay, it's too cheap, too efficient, it's just way too easy. Hence, I never use it. The game is already easy enough. Instead I always have proper trains as my metro. Just replace the metro-station with a new one (http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=538562227), it requires some other mod. Then you can use the elevated rails, stations like this (http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=552914350) and join everything together. Everything uses trains which you can look at. Obviously the upkeep is far more expensive.

It should end up looking like this:
. It takes some work, you'll need patience and road anarchy mods but it's worth it. It works superbly in my current town... just that no one uses public transport because I'm a highway-maniac...

I would like to see this, but I do wonder if it would be worth it. Some users might find it confusing.

Comet Sighted
Town members are always superstitious, and the appearance of a comet in the sky has caused panic among our people. They are convinced that this is a sign that the end of times is near or that something bad is going to happen in the near future.
