Elder Kings Crashes

For some unknown reason, almost every single time I start up Elder Kings, it crashes when I select a player character. It's very infuriating especially since I like to take my time choosing and also seeing all those other people on the internet whose mods work. Can somebody help me with this?

Also, I'm new.
