I was looking forward to the new Nation Designer, however there are a few flaws with it, and here's some suggestions of which most shouldn't take much work but would greatly improve the nation designer. Anyway, here's the list.
So, this may be difficult to fix however there are a few issues regarding units and flags. Land units & ships from custom nations wear rebel uniforms with rebel flags which is quite off-putting, additionally colonial nations formed by custom nations have half of their flags their default colour, and the half that is meant to show half of the flag of their overlord is simply half of the rebel flag. If a nation has one of the pre-made emblems for their banner, when you mouse over one of their provinces the emblem clips out of the flag, also the flags on provinces do not include these emblems, leaving just a blank looking flag for a lot of designs.
I have thought of a couple of ways to rectify these problems without a complete fix, and I hope that they shouldn't take too much work. The ability to use the unit designs of pre-existing nations in the world would be especially useful, the one way to rectify this would be to form a new nation, however in a hotfix this feature was removed due to the AI tagswitching, also it would be a problem if someone created a very large nation with terrible ideas then instantly formed a nation like Prussia at admin tech 10 for their incredibly powerful ideas. I think that a nice idea would be to allow player-controlled nations to form the form-able nations in the game, however for all nations you would not be given their ideas (so nations like the Netherlands, Prussia and Italy would still have the theme and missions of their nations however would be formed similarly to England, France, Britain or Spain where you keep the pre-existing nation's ideas.
Also, being able before the game starts to select a more specific theme for unit models (eg Japanese which is currently unavailable) would add more flavour, and it would be nice to be able to see the unit models that I paid money to see (eg the English & French 100 Years war and colonial troops)
If Paradox had the time to make custom skins for all nation colours it would be great, however a smaller fix like I mentioned above would make the new DLC much more enjoyable
Cheers.
