El Dorado launcher issues - can't access the tech support forum

I'm not able to launch EU4 because the game launcher crashes right after it loads. I did a clean reinstall of EU4 this morning, so I'm not entirely sure what the hiccup is.

Also, I can't access any of the tech support/bug forums here. Not sure why - I own and have registered the game.

I've had the launcher crash on me a few times to. When it does that I usually just have to start it a few times and it eventually works.

This problem has been identified as one caused by outdated mods. Please remove all mods and try again! (you can re-activate the mods when they are updated for 1.10)

Actually you haven't registered the EU4 base game, just the DLCs. And now you won't be able to until the free-to-play weekend is over. For Tech Support until then log tickets at paradox.zendesk.com .

Seems modders are setting their mods to be compatible with all version when they're no such thing.

Hm. Curious. I wonder why I didn't add the base game when I was adding everything else a week or two ago.

Well, there should be option to made mods compatible with multiple versions. What if modder wants his mod to be compatible with both 1.8 and 1.9.*, but not 1.9.10. There is no way to do that, unless paradox updated "supported_version" command.

Having the same problem, although I haven't bought the El Dorado DLC. I tried going in and deleting all of my mods manually, but no luck. The launcher continues to crash as soon as I start it. Is there something else I can do?

I found deleting 'settings.txt' (actually, I renamed to to settings.txt.old just in case) fixes in the issue. You can find the file in 'Documents\Paradox Interactive\Europa Universalis IV', otherwise delete all mods and make sure you unsubscribe from all mods on the workshop (it seems to crash when trying to download mods).

Thanks so much for the help! The settings.txt fix didn't help, but getting rid of all my mods did. Still, I can't deny I'm majorly angry about this bug. I had like 100 mods subscribed to facilitate various different builds and projects.

UPDATE: I seem to be able to run mods that are manually downloaded from the Paradox Forums just fine. Avoid Steam Workshop from now on, I guess.
