Jippie, one more dlc which is euro-centric and doesnt add mechanics to the Non-Europeans. Well, thats because the game is called EUROPA Universalis, right?
This game could be a masterpiece, but instead we get dlcs which offer no real content (And still Paradox will demand +10 $ for this one, the blind fanboys/consuments will buy it anyway), the game is still boring in peace-times and Non-Europeans still play like Europeans in shitty ("Hey, lets give the Siberians the same tech-tree as France but because they are SIBERIANS, we give them a malus in the research-reate, so they unlock "Pike and Shot" 50 years later then the French! A perfect fitting, the history perfectly representing system!").
Whatever, i am out. Wake me up when Paradox finally has the balls to change something groundbreaking.

You could have earned 10$ in the time you read and posted in this topic.

Lol.

Still reformed and Protestant countries, such as Denmark, England, Sweden, the Netherlands, some german states. So there should be some things for them. If hypothetically a country that is orthodox does colonize the americas, one or two events for them setting up their own patriarch should be fine, yes?

I'd like to see the random map improved also, but CK2 has nothing to do with people not using it. It just sucks. Period.

It is another example of the dev team venturing into fantasy which doesn't seem to satisfy the player base who chose EU for the historical settings. Hopefully the free patch updates will be more in tuned with actual enhancement of the core game rather than the gimmicks.

Wauw Paradox! You surprised me with this!
I like the new up-coming DLC, i'm really curious how the new features will work.

One question,

Could we expect new stuff for the old world too?

Thanks :D

Err... So how will this prevent players from creating an insanely strong country with a godlike ruler and unbeatable NIs? Won't this render world conquest achievements kind of worthless?

No, because 1) achievements are obtained individually, and if you wish to compare yourself to others there's still steam achievement managers, 2) it affects only one WC achievement, and most difficult achievements are tag specific, and 3) players already have that as France.

...also achievements are disabled in ironman for customs. Repeat....

i suppose the Nation designer will not work for ironman, or am i wrong?
it will.. just wont give achievements.

I don't like it. Sorry gonna pass on this one I'm afraid, wake me up in 2020 when they think we probably need some asia overhaul and something to do in peace, other than searching for more war.

Players already do WCs as Ryukyu.

There isn't that many of them and it takes quite some time and patience. Hell, even starting with good nation WC isn't trivial and requires some skill and time investment, not to mention cheese.

So is exploration going to change? No longer just steering your ship until it's about half-damaged and then steering it back? No longer marching 1,000 men around the entire inland map?

Sorry if I confused you there - I wasn't saying that CK2 had nothing to do with people not using the RMG, but rather that people don't play SI in CK2 because than they can't import to a game using the random maps in EU4. (at least that is why I don't play SI, and I can only assume that based on other comments I've read on here that that attitude is widespread).

Wiki sums it up:

Jumping the shark is an idiom created by Jon Hein that was used to describe the moment in the evolution of a television show when it begins a decline in quality, signaled by a particular scene, episode, or aspect of a show in which the writers use some type of gimmick in an attempt to keep viewers' interest, and which is taken as a sign of desperation. The phrase is based on a scene from a fifth-season episode of the sitcom Happy Days when the character Fonzie jumps over a shark while on water-skis.[1][2][3]

The usage of "jump the shark" has subsequently broadened beyond television, indicating the moment when a brand, design, franchise or creative effort's evolution declines.

This fits the current dev team's recent choices exactly.
Does it though?

In this case it has already been done before, with the custom ruler for CKII. And that has generally been a positive thing, at the very least not an issue. Secondly, the cumstom nation thing is somewhat what people have often asked for, non-deterministic paths for nations. Like the case of Prussia becoming a merchant republic and moving towards trade rather than a militaristic warpower. Personally I like the individual flavour aspects of each nation, so this might not be something for me. But then I'll just not use it. Others will clearly like it. Good for them.
Maybe the other benefits will make the DLC worth it for me, maybe not. I expect the first though.

This is certainly not a case of 'jumping the shark' as it is a specific point where something (in hindsight) stupid happens or is done to the franchise. Arguably the most stupid thing has all ready happened with the random new world.
