In order to free Egypt, you must discover the secret knowledge called "modding" and change the name "Mamelukes" to "Egypt", Muslim title of ruler to "pharaoh" and create the Egyptian Religion, placing it i the correct provinces.

Or find someone who did it earlier.

However what you would really want to do is take the EUIII CD out of your disc drive and insert inside a CD of "EU Rome", another game form this company - and that's because by the time of the start date, Egypt was dead for 1,500 years already! Hell, the empire who conquered it during its rise is a 2PM minor, and that is after a reeeealy long existance! You could go today to modern Egypt and ask the President to give his power away to a pagan pharaoh pretendent, that is if you can find one, with the same chance of succeding as in 1399 - actually with a slightly better chance, as in the middle ages most people knew much less then today about Ancient Egypt, bercause of archeology.

Obviously I don't how to play this game well enough. I thought you can bring back some countries, civilizations and religious cultures. I see now that this game is more history driven.

That being said... Asking questions in the future would be quite intimidating on this forum. A simple "You cant do that in this game because..." follow by "Sorry, but if you really want to bring back Egypt, I recommend.. modding... and ..."

I thought that was what this forum was for.. asking questions, no matter how stupid they are.
I guess it became an elite club where the elite players mock those who don't know much about the game.
I am very sorry to have disturbed anyone. May the administrator please delete this stupid question.
Thank you.

The Death and Taxes mod does create cores for an "Egypt" country. I'm not sure how they come about, might want to ask in the D+T thread in the User Modifications subforum.

Or you can just play Mamelukes whose powerbase is in Egypt. Other than the aesthetics, changing the title and name of the country doesn't really make much of a difference game play wise. Go ahead and consider them the 'spiritual successor' of Egypt if you will. You may not be called the Pharaoh, but people will fear you all the same.

This. Mamelukes were the Egypt of this time period and Mameluke Sultanate of Egypt was last independent Egyptian state (before Muhammad Ali and the modern state of Egypt). Modernising Mameluke Egypt and claiming the control of the Eastern Mediterranean is actually quite fun.

I'm curious which 2PM that was.

I think he is talking about Byzantium aka. Eastern Roman Empire which controls Constantinople and Morea in 1399. It was the Roman Empire which annexed the Ancient Egypt and Egypt was province of the Eastern Roman Empire till the Arab conquest of 639-642.

Thank you.

It's not a stupid question, it's entirely justified. I assure you that not every newcomer here is given such a harsh welcome, although it can of course happen from time to time.

As for Egypt, there are some existing mods (which are really easy to install and use) featuring it, such as the aforementioned Death & Taxes mod. In the unmodded game you're stuck with the Mamluks though.

Where is it?
How can one free it?
I want to be the Pharaoh!

Thank you.

Unfortunately there is no Egypt in the core game, but you don't need to mod anything to turn The Mameluks regime into an Absolutist Monarchy. It will still be called "Mameluks" but you'll have the power of a Pharaoh! ;)

I actually found that stuff both informative and entertaining - it's edutainment at its best! Some people just can't appreciate style.
