i read somewhere that a disloyal spymaster can attempt to assasinate you.

what are the disadvantages of keeping on other disloyal advisors?

does loyalty affect the effectiveness of a marshal (or vassal leader) in battle?

Disloyal martials will increase the likelihood of defecting regiments, disloyal chancellors will do such things as make peace behind your back, and disloyal stewards will just outright steal money.

IMO Disloyal stewards are the most frequent problems. I get two or three "money is missing from the treasury" events before I get any other disloyal adviser events.

I have only lost one King to a treacherous spymaster. But that really, really, really sucked. Poisoning is not a good way to go. Now 0-intrigue schizos get to be spymaster when I'm having loyalty problems at court.

The Marshall and Chancellor events Beamed mention ring a bell, but I don't remember experiencing them myself.

Oh ...I have ... MANY times ... especially the disloyal marshal  ... many times I have lost my regiments in the middle of a war (and often at the worst possible time) and then find that my marshal have become disloyal (or I missed that a disloyal one got the position on a reload).

wouldn't it be better to have no advisor than one with 0 skill?

If you already have an advisor then you can't empty his office until the current one becomes unavailable, but you can replace him. So if there's disloyal 20 intrique spymaster, and you can't find any one loyal to take the post, you're only option is to replace him with some who's too stupid to kill you.
