When I compare the stats of normal an motorized infantry, than everything is identical (hitpoints, attack and defende values, braktrough, amor, piercing, ...), with the only exception "unit speed". A motorized infantry is three times faster than a normal one (12km/h vs. 4km/h).

For this extra speed, the unit is three times more expensive, uses 50% more supply, i have to build a lot of more equipment (50 trucks) and the unit uses 20% more manpower.

1) Is speed so important in the game (just to encircle enemy units)? Or are there other effects and benefits of speed? If yes, which?

2) How fast is 4km/h in the game? Can i advance with 4km/h in enemy territory (without fighting) all the time, or just a few hours a day? As example, how long will it take to advance 1.000 km into enemy territory (without fighting)? Just 250 hours, or much more?

An army without supply is very easy to destroy and cutting of the enemy supply lines is the best way to defeat the enemy. Speed is thus very important because fast units can advance deep inside enemy territory and cut of the supply lines.

The more provinces you can attack an enemy from the less effective the enemy defence will be, quick units can quickly advance into enemy provinces and from these, attack the enemy from multiple directions.

Cutting of the enemy supply is a very big deal in HOI4 and that by itself make units such as paratroopers useful.

Does mech offer greater hardness/resistance to soft attack?
Im pretty sure mechanized have stronger combat stats then foot infantry but motorised is probably no better then fot infantry and cavalry is a little bit weaker.

Orga is slightly higher.

this is motorized not mechanized inf and it makes total sense that they have 1200 people instead of 1000 in normal (200 are truck operator teams, drivers, mechanics etc). And it does not really make them more efficient in battle, they are just faster.
