I started a game as Milan in 1492, when Gian Galleazzo Sforza is in power. In a few years he dies, and who should pop up to replace him? Lodovico Sforza! Nifty, I think, what a cool coincidence, looks like Lodovico "the Moor" assasinated his nephew and took over, just like real life (I also had the French-Milanese war during his reign, although I won this time  ). But then after Lodovico kicks it, who should pop up? None other than Massimiliano I, again just like IRL. Is that not a little freaky? Unfortunately the real life Sforzas died out then, so I couldn't see if the trend would continue... :(

They do use real-world monarchs, and yes, often in the right order, but the order you get them in during the game is random - except for the weight each one gets (some names are more common than others). So the fact that he had 3 historical monarchs in a row is pretty something! :)

I had an interesting setup with an AI England. Starting in 1492, they get Henry VII. In 1507 he dies, putting a regency counil in. In May 1508, Edward VI comes to the throne. In 1512 he dies, putting Elizabeth I on the throne. Then, in 1528, England gets Henry VIII!

I thought this interesting, and looked some things up. I found that in this situation, Edward VI could be Edward, Earl of Warwick (presuming he either successfully escaped from the Tower of London or didn't try to escape when he did) and Elizabeth I could be Elizabeth of York, wife of Henry VII and mother of Henry VIII.\

I love the little quirks in EU3. :D

I played Castille from 1453 and Juan II died exactly seven days after his real life death in 1454 - that's all I can offer you there

But these observations are just a matter of chance ... as each country has about 10-20 leader names, the chance for getting two real kings in a row isn't so bad after all ... and if enough people play the game often enough, one day someone will get a game with an exact row of historical monarchs for a complete game, for 1453's Castille these would be: Enrique IV, Isabel I, Joana I ... well, my game wasn't THE ONE ...

I saw England with Elizabeth I once. Her stats were 9/9/9  !

Maybe some leaders are predetermined to be awesome?
No, this was just random chance.

Had a 8/7/8 Hendryk as my Polish king in an MP game on tuesday.. He led a few successful wars as Poland turned into a greater power in the 1470s.. His successors were retards though.

That always seems to work out like that. I had a Fredrick in my current Brandenburg game who was 8,7,7 and his next three sucessors where like 4,3,3 and 3,3,5 and then a whopping 4,4,5. One wonders if Fredrick married his cousin one too many times
