In the later part of the EU period they were independent of Tripoli. Didn't the US marines march in and intimidate the ruler into providing support against Tripoli?

Well, first of all, the flag/shield currently used for Cyrenaica is cited on this site (http://www.crwflags.com/fotw/flags/ly_cyren.html#1947) of coming into existence in 1947 and at the earliest 1919.

Other than that, the earliest reference I can find to it is in 1912.

From 1711-1835 the Karamanli dynasty ruled in Tripoli over Cyrenaica and Tripolitania, so Cyrenaica could not have been independent.

Additionally, the current monarch file for Cyrenaica only runs till 1790ish or so (not even covering the time when US was at war with Tripoli). One of the monarchs Euldj Ali ruled in Tlemcen and not Cyrenaica. Also an Al Mansur appears to have ruled during the EU reign of an Al Mansur in Cyrenaica, although he ruled in Fezzan(nearby PTI location). The only site, when searching google, that lists any of the monarch names with Cyrenaica or a combination (Euldj Ali and Senous) is a website listing the monarchs of EU:rolleyes:

It appears that Cyrenaica was never independent until the 20th century. If so, it should be removed as a revolter. The tag could be better used to represent Algeria or some other location.

I wonder what Paradox was thinking...

I haven't completely posted it yet (other than the little bit above), but I have a whole new plan concerning Fez and Morocco. As we all now/the description for Fez states, Fez never really was a nation. Therefore Morocco should start off owning Fez and Tangiers with its capital in Tobukal. Morocco should, ideally, become Fez when the Wattasids take over in 1472. In 1505 when the Wattasid dynasty lost virtual control over southern Morocco, the bottom half revolts away. So Tangiers, Tobukal, and Fez are owned by Fez while everything southwards is owned by Morocco. Eventually Morocco should overpower Fez and absorb it completely so that the reign of the Sa'dis can truly begin.

Of course, in this sequence there are many extra events in case Morocco stays Morocco post 1472 or Fez overpowers Morocco post 1505. This sequence should make more sense once I debug & post the events.

garbon:cool:

As stated here is my event sequence for Morocco and Fez, however I haven't tested it because I found out the old sequence was too much for the game to handle (bizarre bugs occurred) and so I had to scrap it. Oh well, I'll test eventually:D

Tada!:p Expect something similar to show the transition from the Sa'dis to Alawites.

I'll post the new monarch lists for Morocco and Fez plus the new revolter files asap.

Score! My new setup + events worked great when testing. Morocco became Fez seamlessly and around 1504, Morocco revolted in the south from Fez. There was only one major issue, stemming from an error in West Africa.

For some reason, Songhai never expanded and got swallowed by Mossi. Likewise Benin was swallowed by Hausa. In any event the uber-Mossi then attacked the newly formed southern Morocco taking one of its provs. Fez (upper Morocco) then wiped southern Morocco down to one province. Historically, southern Morocco took over the northern portion of Morocco. I guess I will have to create an event giving Morocco an army after it breaks away from Fez. Also, a lot will have to be done in West Africa.

I've also completed a mini-event sequence simulating the strength of the Hafsids from 1435-1488 and then its decline. I'll post that soon, as the sequence works flawlessly.

Here are the events chegitz guevara posted in the EEP Ottoman Empire quite a bit back. Since they concern North Africa I post them here for scrutiny. I think their quite good and should be included.

Inspired by my reposting of chegitz guevara's events. I worked out a sequence concerning the Knight of St. John, Spain, Tripoli. I also created the event sequence for the Ottoman conquest of Tunisia in 1574. I'll do an initial test and then post.

Reasoning/Thoughts for/about Tlemcen

Here's what I think about the whole Tlemcen/Algiers issue.

At first I thought that Tlemcen shouldn't be added and agreed with what James Fox said in the AGC thread that Algiers should be used to represent Tlemcen as well as the Algiers state under the Ottomans. However, upon further research I'm beginning to think differently.

Before I get ahead of myself, Tlemcen was the name of the nation in Algiers under the Zayyanid Dynasty. After the decline of the Hafsid dynasty, Algeria(modern-state) fell apart into a bunch of little kingdoms. Basically from 1490 to 1520ish and beyond. The Tlemcen kingdom survived and was vassalized by Spain in 1543. Its capital, Tlemcen, is located in the EU province of Orania.

When the Barbarossa's attacked Algeria, they setup their own state, in Al-Djazaïr, which eventually was Algiers under the Ottomans. At this time, Tlemcen existed along with Algiers.

Basically, I think that everything that is currently Algiers pre-1500's should be Tlemcen. Those Algiers's monarchs are actually the monarchs of Tlemcen. Around 1520ish then the Barbarossas would take over the eastern half of Tlemcen and found Algiers (not able to revolt till 1500's). Spain would then be directed to take Orania from Tlemcen, leaving it with Atlas. Tlemcen would then come to simulate the small kingdoms that still ruled free from Algiers and Spain. From 1708 to 1732, it would represent free Oran.

The benefit of the aforementioned plan is that it better represents the situation in Algeria. And unlike the nations I created in West Africa, or any of the West African nations for that matter, Tlemcen actually had a national flag.

By the way, any thoughts on Tlemcen? That issue is impeding my progress.:p

I went ahead and made an event sequence for the Barbarossas assuming that Tlemcen is added as a nation. It can easily be modified if Tlemcen isn't added. Also, I think Barbarossa should be a leader for Algiers not the Pirates but more on that later.

I won't be able to test to the weekend and have a lot to test, so I'll probably be quiet the rest of the week:D

I got around to testing my North African events!:D

I replaced Algiers with Tlemcen at start and basically gave Tlemcen the Algiers's country definition.

All the new sequences worked, including the one for Spain to take over Tripoli. The only thing that needs adjusting is the sequence to form Algiers, because the revolt risk was too minor to for Algiers to revolt from Tlemcen. Also, I need to change the revolt file for Algiers, because when it revolted, Orania joined Algiers.

Other than those few issues, everything is great. Moving back south to West Africa.

Sent large chunk of North Africa stuff to Crook!:)

Just need to wrap up a few last details...like monarchs.;)

Special thanks go out to Birger Jarl and Iostephanos for helping me out with the graphics. Also, thanks to chegitz guevara who, incidentally, inspired me to create a flurry of Ottoman related North African events.:D

Now once again I turn to tackle the beast...West Africa!

EDIT: All current North African info has been compiled and sent.

Can you update this accordingly (and rather soon too).

Sending 80203(TUN), sorry 'bout that. I was pretty sure that 85052 occurs when it is set free by the TUN event (85051). I can add a date if its needed though.

Its way too deterministic!

What kind of trigger can I have to get this ball rolling? Would it make sense for Tunisia to experience massive revolts in the provinces that are currently just seceded?

Please forgive me for the following when 1.24 comes out:

Tlemcen and Tunisia should not have high relations or be in an alliance. They actually fought many times in the 15th century.

Tunisia shouldn't be "forced" to fall apart the way that it does.

Forgetting to setup Algiers after it forms.

And lastly, forgetting to fix the monarch lists for Morocco and Fez

Sorries:eek:
