Prussian creation

I have set up my 1419 scenario with Teoutons in control of Prussia and Memel. Changed Events so that ...

Makes things work out as they should without having to put Prussians in there from begining. What do you think?

again a little off topic suggestion, but I do believe Moldavia was allied with Poland and Lithuania in 1419 (during the reign of Alexander the Good). The Poles rewarded the Moldavians for help against the Teutonic knights with Pocutia (situated in southern Podolia on E.U. maps) which province was a cause of numerous wars between the two countries later that century.

Thus, my suggestion is make Moldavia allied with Poland and Lithuania. After Tannenberg (?) Moldavia gainst casus belli shield on Podolia. The C.B. shield is removed in 1529, date when Peter Rares prince of Moldavia launched his last campaign against the Poles, however the Turks invaded from the south, kicked him out and vassalized the country.

Also, I think there needs to be an event in which Crimea is vassalized by the Ottomans. Hopefully this will work towards recreating the favorite Turkish strategy of attacking from the south and sending the tatars from the east to cut the enemy's supply lines.

Poland

A few views/suggestions/wants/desires/notes for others to use..

1. Krackow really should get an Arts factory...

Under Casimir, in 1346, the first Polish Legal Code was made, and in 1364 the foundations of Krakow University (the second oldest in central Europe) were
formed. Trade also became important due to Poland's position on the commercial routes leading from East to West and from South to North.
Also it continued to be built up and until late 1600's it had few rivals for center of learning or arts. <note whoever has the oldest should as well lol...unsure who it is ...Venice or Austria? maybe?>

2. The Hungary/Varna thing ...really would like to see the idea expanded for the what if for the Prince surviving the varna crusade and working to unify Hungary with Poland...this would include of course probable alternate Kingship lines for one or both nations...the vicctory at Varna with Prince living should at least cause Hungary to become Poland's vassal and a boost in relations and should trigger a future event for a unification similar to Lithuania ..yes/no/partial which would possibly change the rulers for poland as fresh noble blood avaiable for it to draw from without resorting to foreign elections <most of which were caused by strong seym and weak kingship..which if you chose dif options should automatically cause change in line of rulers and events anyway> yes this is what if...but it was a what if with firm base in reality of the political situation and aims of those involved at that time...its every bit as plausable as england not losing france in the 100 year war or castile not becoming spain which are options in this game...this is no more far-fetched..i agree make it a low % computer choses...also make third option..Varnow is lost as well as prince...in which case hungary becomes vassal to Turkey maybe earlier...and Poland ends up alone at war with turkey with a stability hit and relations drop...

In 1440 the Magyars offered Wladyslaw III (Wladyslaw Jagiello's son) the crown of Hungary; Poland's attention shifted to the plains of Hungary and the growing
Turkish threat. In 1444, the mainly Hungarian forces were defeated by the Turks at Varna on the Black Sea and Wladyslaw was killed. For a brief period the
Hungarian throne passed out of Polish hands

3. Teutonic Order/Prussia once again i think Prussia as starting country should be removed and become a name change/creation union for Brandenburg event based off triggers including this region <substitue TO for some of the alliance conditions...
Teutonic order should gain West Prussia <capitol> Danzig, East Pomerania, Prussia, Kourland?, Livland and Estland...
Polotsk? and Memel should go to Lithuania <Kourland contains part of samogotia? <spelling i forget> which was Polish even before union with Lith...so Memel might be given to Poland instead..or Kourland to balance out the change in COT
Danzig gets its COT back <this city was so rich 2.5% of its taxes paid to Poland was tithed to sweden as war paymentys in the 1600's and it funded MOST of Sweden's wars in europe it was very very rich COT even late < source for all amber trade and alos cnetral tranship point for many batlic trading centers from east, silk road from asia to odessa to danzig and transhipping grain to the netherlands COTs <also should up value on province itself
A event should be set to trigger upon the occupation of both Prussia halves...at which time Danzig automatically succeeds in revolting and defecting to Poland < not auto but without any other preconditions or fights> and options given for Western Prussia/Pommerania go to Poland while east Prussia and Kourland become vassal state of Prussia <while a new country is formed of Livland and Estonia...as vassal state called Inflants vassaled to TO based out of East Prussia <new capitol=Konigsberg> ie events cause TO to be renamed to Prussia ..and a new nation crewated <if possible..if not then give inflants land to new Prussia and create a new event for later to split them to Poland after the inflants wars>
options should have 1 option for whats mentioned above..seocnd should be ignore fight out the war to normal conclusion and c take none of the land but create TO as huge vassal with good relations perhaps.

Later events conditional upon above would be the conversion of Prussia state religion while retaining its vassalization to Poland.

And the Inflants wars whereby Poland is given option to aid TO/Inflants if its attacked by Muscovy/Russia in the 1500's era..if she does so and gains concessions from Muscovy/Russia then Inflants the nation becomes part of Poland..or Inflants the provs leave TO/Prussia and join Poland with other benefits and negs <the Danes never forgot their trading posts in estonia that the TO stole and butchered>

Wladyslaw III's brother, Casimir IV, started a prolonged war against the Teutonic Order in order to recover
Pomerania and Gdansk. The subsequent victory in the 13 years war in 1466, led to the Peace of Torun by which the Order was humiliated and Prussia was
partitioned: Royal (West) Prussia came under direct Polish rule, the Grand-Master of the Order keeping Ducal (east) Prussia as a vassal to the Polish Crown. During
the Reformation The Grand Master split with Rome, and by becoming a vassal of the Polish King was able to turn East Prussia into a Duchy.

Between 1579 and 1582 Batory came to the aid of Inflanty (Livonia: modern day Estonia and Latvia) which has been attacked by the Muscovite Tsar, Ivan the
Terrible. After a successful campaign and a brilliant victory at Pskov Batory accepted the Muscovite plea for peace; Livonia joined the Commonwealth and Poland
was now recognised as the greatest power in Central Europe and only the Turkish Sultan ruled over more extensive territories.

4. Poland should have larger range of culture in gov...of all nations she was one of the most tolerant and the ukrainian revolts were the only real case of ethnic revelution in her lands...and this only because Russian agitators paid cossacks to stir up trouble and refuse the union which would have absorbed the Ukraine just as lithuania had been...German and slavis <the czechs along border of hungary/poland, ugrics and or Baltic <defintely lithuanian and return ruthenian..the whole cossack revolts were a artificalically created revolt...not based of Polish policies overall but based off paid ringleaders sent to agitate the masses by russians who didnt want the unions to take place...another event idea...if russia doesnt exist the whole cossack revolutions never happens and poland does get her union with the ukraine/cossacks

Also second tier of events not based off varnow for another possible union with hungary developing from this note

In 1471 Casimir was elected King of the Czechs. His son, Wladyslaw became King of Bohemia and Hungary in 1490.

1490-1526 saw the Jagiellonian rule in Hungary, and the peak of Central European dominance. The dual realm now stretched from the Baltic to the Black Sea, and
from the borders of Silesia to within 300 miles of Moscow. It contained a rich mixture of nationalities and beliefs; Poles in the west and centre, Lithuanians, Latvians
and Estonians in the north, Lutheran Germans in Prussian and the western frontier, Orthodox Ukrainians and Byelorussians in the east, Moslem Tartars in the east
also (these are the oldest Moslem communities in the Christian world) alongside the Karaites (a mixture of Khazar and Kiptchatska-Polovetska peoples, and
practising a unique mixture of Judaism and Islam), and Jews scattered throughout.

5. Unsure how to represent most of these notes...i saw a copernicus event...maybe a golden age event generally for poland...lower revolt risk, stability, good gov policy event, good year events...this sort of stuff tied to era maybe...the religious tolerances should be reflected in boosts with non catholic nations prior to the split in church < events to boost with sunni shiite or orthodox..and later after split with Protestant and reformed throughout <ie several events...2 or 3 per 100 years to reflect the open policys poland as nation valued

This period saw some important developments in the government of Poland; in 1430 the law "Nieminem Captivabimus" (the Polish "Habeas Corpus"), in 1493 the
establishment of a Parliament with two houses, the Senate (dignitaries, archbishops, and officers of the realm) and the Sejm (elected representatives). In 1505 the
Statute of "Nihil Novi" enacted that nothing new could be decided without Parliament's consent.

This "Golden Age" saw many foreign scholars, writers, artists and architects attracted to Poland, especially from Renaissance Italy. It was also the age of Copernicus
and of the first great figures in Polish literature; Mikolaj Rey (the first to write exclusively in Polish) and Jan Kochanowski (the "father" of Polish poetry).

This was also, in Europe, a time of religious diversion and persecution. When pressed to take sides in the dispute between Catholics and Protestants, the king,
Zygmunt August, said: "I am the King of the people-not the judge of their consciences." This spirit of tolerance attracted many refugees from religious persecution
throughout the history of Poland before the partitions; Jews in the 13th century, Hussites in the 15th, and Catholics from England and Scotland in the 16th and 17th
centuries.

6. also unsure for how to cover this if its needed...perhaps alterante rulers available should the weaken seym events be chosen prior...afterall if they dont run things then there is greater chance of royalty settign up its own succession...<not that id want to lose Bathory but the option should be there to sleep any future foreign King "elections and events associated with them and have a purely ficitious line of kings taken from Poland/lithuania and oir Russian.Hungarian lines <should events with unions of these occur

The Elected Monarchy.

With the death of Zygmunt, the last of the Jagiellonians in 1574, there was nobody who could legally convene the Sejm. An "interrex" (Regent), the Archbishop of
Gniezno, was appointed by the Senate and a special "Convocational Sejm" was called which decided to let the "szlachta" (nobility) the elect a king in a free election.
Prior to his coronation the king-elect had to swear to uphold the Constitution and all "szlachta" privileges.

The first elected monarch was Henri d'Anjou, but he resigned half-way through the year in the hope of succeeding to the French throne instead. The second election
winner was the Transylvanian Voivod (Prince), Stefan Batory, who became one of Poland's most celebrated rulers, great in both war and peace.

Batory carried out important reforms, encouraged further overseas trade and created the first regular Polish infantry by conscripting peasants from the Royal estates.
In 1579 he created the University at Wilno (the eastern most outpost of Western European culture).
ok ill keep reading on...the deluge would have many twists and or events...such as what if the Swedes hadnt failed to take the keep protecting the "Black Mary" sicne that seige and failure changed the whole course of the swedish invasion of Poland..what if Poland had not held out...option to be made a vassal state or Sweden and such..maybe new line of kings as result of swedish influence...and or possible future incorporation into sweden at future date ...or splitting in half with Lithuania going to russia and Poland to sweden as treaty between them or such...lots of possiblilites triggered by "x" provinces being under control of Sweden or Russia during certain years event is live..and or both at same time for the more spectacular events <ie if somehow both russia and sweden both invade successfully poland at same time it could trigger more favorable events

ill keep looking...and ill review what ive posted and refine them as i think on them more...i hope someone can script some events based off the general info i get and background...whether or not others want to use thats up to them but i love to see some....Im not the person stuck on "it must be historical event or else..." bah if you want historical build a time machine and go there...or weatch tv...cause you win one battle you not supposed to and it aint historical no more....to expect the partition of poland to occur when poland owns half of europe is bs...there should be positive events that reflect when these countires do better than they historically did if poland annexes austria...then some events triggered by such might be nice...im not saying for every nation it could take make an event...but key ones..like russia for its civil war <someone posted a idea for russians into seym option i liekd that> or sweden <if sweden taken early...perhaps change would come from consitant line of rulers form sweden avbaiable to dominate the polish seym afterwards...or vise versa if sweden takes poland...

1)Hmm. I always though that Krakow univerity declined in it
s importance quite quickly. Are other universities represented somewhat?

3)The whole TO issue is messed up. I was quite surprised with removal of Danzig Cot, and since we have independece command, Prussia doesn't really needs to exist in the beginning. The best thing would be having TO state with capital in Prussia and provinces in Memel and Danzig (with Cot), and vassal of TO, Sword Brothers, with provinces of Livland and Estland. Kurland, without Cot, could go to Lithuania, representing Samogitia. Well, it would be a small problem, since Lithuania shouldn't be able to built baltic fleet, but at least it would prevent diploannexation of Sword Brothers by Teutonic Order.
Later, Sword Brothers would turn into Courland, and Teutonic Order into Prussia.

4)Cossacks revolt weren't artificial. They were mainly religion and social fueled revolts, though, not cultural ones. And they were so big and important not because Cossacks exceptionally hated Comonwealth but because they were very militiant people, just that.
The point is, cultural situation in Commonwealth and neighbouring areas is still wrong, though not having two Ukrainian cultures is big improvement. (On a side note. I suppose Poland doesn't have Ruthenian culture from the start. Does it get it after unification event?)

Ah, and Poland military sliders are somewhat wrong. Offensive should be about 5-6 in the beginning and pushed up to 10 in the XVI century, along with increase in quality.

Poland should have larger range of culture in gov...of all nations she was one of the most tolerant and the ukrainian revolts were the only real case of ethnic revelution in her lands
My gut instinct is that at least part of this tolerance was due to Polands decentralized nature, so if you centralize too much you lose the additional cultures.

Kurland, without Cot, could go to Lithuania, representing Samogitia. Well, it would be a small problem, since Lithuania shouldn't be able to built baltic fleet
You could edit provinces.csv to change Kurland from coastal to inland, although this will leave Kurland portless for all time.

Well, it seems that there's going to be quite monstrous Commonwealth there. With plans of adding Russia, now Hungary... can i suggest union between Bohemia and Poland?
It sounded to me that due to the dependencies on the monarchs sugested for these events may well mean that Poland can only form one additional union.

event 3478 the Polish connection to the Time of Troubles should require that Russia actually exists.

event 3486 the Polish Succesion of 1697, how aout an option d saying We Don't Need No Stinkin' King.

and another one is event 3495, how bout an option c getiing rid of king all together.
This should give big boost to aristocracy sleep some events and all kings wake some new "monarchs" representing the Sejm.

i have been looking at something of note...most of the bad events involving the seym in poland would sewriously have been avoided if the state had worked harded on centralization early on giving the king more power to tax. raise armies and institue reforms as needed...so seriously i think either a event based off poland reaching a certain centralization should be added that sleeps these events or each of these events should have included in them a trigger for centralization values being "x" or less to activate...

obviously with stronger central state the outsdie elections would be curtailed <why would they necessarily be forced to choose outsdie at beheast of their seym which is now weaker in your world> therefor reaching a certain level of centralization should cause a sleep/wake line for new kings and or events overall...similar ties can be done to other nations like russia and such who suffered more from their state polices than anything else..choosing different pathes early on should create new events entirely rather than having as poland does a string of events that no matter what you say on first one you still get the next 15...lets face it even though you chose to weaken the seym etc and take the hit...you still have the seym in full power cuasing the next event..there needs some serious revamping of this

I have just editied the events for hungary regarding the inheritance issue. First hungary starts in control of Transylvania with CB shield.
Then all monarchs in hungary monarch file after Lajos need to be made dormant. Events 3732 and 3184 are commented out. They are the instant inheritance ones.
Then edit the following event like so
#The Death of King Lajos of Hungary#

Looks good to me, but shouldn't Siebenburgen be vassalized in choice A of 3639? And maybe that should give positive realtions between Hungary and Turkey, too?

Here's something I've been working on for that Teutonic Order and Prussia problem. First, change the 1419 scenario start to remove Prussia, and give the Prussian provinces and army to the Teutonic Order. (I'd also recommend giving the TO some more merchants so they can exploit Danzig in the first year.) Put the capitol in Prussia. Depending on how you feel about Memel, you may want to add it to Prussia's entry in revolt.txt. I did. Delete the trigger conditions from PRU 3516, which will now be triggered by event

Now here are two new events for the TO, set to fire in early 1524, when Prussia is supposed to become a Polish duchy. The first event triggers if the TO controls any of its starting provinces besides Prussia. It grants independence to Prussia, removes the Prussian provinces from the TO core, and triggers PRU 3516, where Prussia becomes a Polish duchy. The TO goes on with whatever it has left - the new capitol is randomly assigned.

The second event fires if the TO is down to a one-province minor. In this case the TO becomes Prussia. This means changing to Protestant too. Then PRU 3516 is triggered.

I've noticed something strange when firing these with F12. The Polish event that vassalizes Prussia always fires if the right choices are made, but the vassalization only happens if we got there by turning the TO into Prussia via event 85001 - if Prussia was formed by being released in event 85001, it doesn't become a Polish vassal. I don't understand this at all.

Anyway, here are the events:
#Albrecht leaves the Teutonic Order
event = {

id = 85000
trigger = {
OR = {

style = 2

date = { day = 10 month = february year = 1524 }

action_a ={ #Become Prussia#

Poland can't vassalize Prussia if it is the Teutonic Order's which it would besince you are granting it independence. Prussia has to break the vassalization thorugh the event then Poland should be able to vassalize them.

PRU 3546, which triggers the Polish vassalization event, does have a breakvassal command for the TO before the event trigger. But that probably doesn't take effect until the next day. I guess the only way to fix this is to hardcode the dates so that the Polish event happens a bit later.

These are Paradox's event problems, which makes me feel a bit better.

I edited the above events to keep them from firing if Prussia already exists, and to prevent Memel from becoming a one-province TO.

Anyone look at PRU in revolt.txt? It's obviously the Kingdom of Prussia, not Ducal Prussia. Testing the above events I ended up with a one-province TO in Prussia, a revolter Prussia in Brandenburg, and a revolter Brandenburg in Kustrin.:rolleyes:

But I've discovered that the game will apparently accept two diffrent revolt.txt entries for a country. Here, then, are my revised revolt.txt entries for Prussia (the Brandenburg revolter ceases to exist in 1611, so that's when the switch happens). It doesn't crash - don't know if it works.

PRU = {
date = { day = 1 month = january year = 1419 }
expirydate = { day = 31 month = december year = 1610 }
minimum = { 290 }
extra = { 289 }
capital = 290
group = latin
ai = "Prussia.ai"
}
PRU = {
date = { day = 1 month = january year = 1611 }
expirydate = { day = 31 month = december year = 1820 }
minimum = { 290 312 313 }
extra = { 301 314 }
capital = 290
group = latin
ai = "Prussia.ai"
}

Modified the above events so that they happen to LAT, not PRU.:confused: Also added that the order must control Prussia in order for the events to happen. It wouldn't happen in the middle of a war, and the release vassal command wouldn't work anyway.

Here's the new Teutonic Order setup to go with the above event. It has substantially better DPs than the original. They have a fair chance to hang on until 1525 with this.

Unfortunately apparently is the correct word... It will not crash but only one (IIRC the last) entry is used. :(

You're not the first one to try that... ;)
