Here is my proposal for a Irish event:

Event Name: The Dublin Society
Country: Eire
Description: In 1731, the Dublin Society was founded. It concentrated in particular on the desire to promote agricultural and industrial growth. The Society offered grants for land reclamation, textiles, fisheries, and other pursuits, and helped spur growth around Dublin.
Trigger(s): 1731
Effect(s):
A: Improve Meath
+1 Tax Value in Meath
+1000 Population in Meath
+100 Infrastructure Tech
+50 Treasury

The Royal Dublin Society did exist (it become "Royal" in 1820), but my thinking was that an independent Irish government would strongly support the Society (much more than the English) & that it would have had a great impact on the city.

Any thoughts on this event plus RepublicofGenoa's Guinness event? Would they both work, or are they together too beneficial for Meath?

Count Six - Here is what I would propose for DP changes in your WOTR events. Note that these are taken from either EEP v1.0, or are otherwise new.

First, the DP settings just prior to the first WOTR event (i.e. the 1419 scenario settings):

Aristocracy: 8
Centralization: 3
Innovativeness: 5 *
Mercantilism: 6
Offensive: 5
Land: 6 *
Quality: 7
Serfdom: 7

These are the DP changes I would have in the St. Alban's event (reflecting the historical WOTR event):

Aristocracy: +1
Centralization: -1
Serfdom: +1

These are the DP changes I would have in the Bosworth Field event (reflecting the historical Bosworth Field event):

Aristocracy: -1
Centralization: +3
Innovativeness: +1 *
Mercantilism: -1 *
Serfdom: -3

* = Changes from EEP v1.0

What do you think about applying the Bosworth Field DP changes to the Lancastrian Succession event? This would set up England in the 1500s the same regardless of who wins the WOTR. Obviously this would change once the Lancastrian events are created post-1485.

How does one play the Welsh ( fantasy ) scenario in the EEP?
I've tried through Fantasy, EEP, and EEP_byz...none will allow play.
I want to try out Pishtaco's...events

Wales starts as part of England in the GC. The quickest route to playing it would be to start a GC as England, set it free as a vassal, save the game, and rightclick the England shield into Wales on the load screen.

This also used to let me play a Persian GC, but alas! no longer, unless I move its revolt start date from 1487 back to 1419. :)

The leaders & monarchs for Wales definitely should appear (they did in my testing under 1.04). If Korath is right, though, there may be a problem with the events.

It's amusing how utterly nonsensical one's posts can look after one gets some sleep.

Naturally, FANTASY_wls.txt should not be in the Historical-ONLY version of the EEP. :eek:

However, it's certainly missing from at least the 1.0 version of the History+Conjectural version. If this was fixed in 1.0b, I'll happily shut up; I never downloaded it, instead manually fixing the startup errors in my install.

Allright - here's my first event. Please be gentle :)

# The Creation of Upper Canada
event = {
id = XXXX
trigger = {
exists = USA
}
random = no
country = ENG
name = "British Reaction to American Independence"
desc = "Once Britain had recognized the independence of the U.S.A., and with thousands of British loyalists fleeing from the U.S., a decision had to be made regarding the rest of Britain's North American colonies. "
style = 4
date = { day = 1 month = january year = 1791 }
offset = 365

action_a ={ # Establish Upper Canada
name = "Pass the Constitutional Act and establish Upper Canada."
command = { type = population which = 92 value = 100 }
command = { type = population which = 97 value = 100 }
command = { type = population which = 98 value = 100 }
}
action_b ={ # Leave the colonies as they are
name = "Leave the colony of Canada as it is."
command = { type = population which = 106 value = 100 }
command = { type = population which = 99 value = 100 }
command = { type = population which = 109 value = 100 }
command = { type = population which = 105 value = 100 }
command = { type = relation which = USA value = 25 }
}
action_c ={ # Establish the Dominion of Canada
name = "Pass the British North America Act and establish the Dominion of Canada"
command = { type = independence which = U04 }
command = { type = relation which = USA value = -25 }
}
}

This is obviously designed to tie in with my Canada mod, but the creation of Upper Canada is a historic event, and the "A" option is my approximation of what actually occurred.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

BarristerBoy - I really like the event. My only suggestion would be to make the relations drop with the USA for choice C higher, to maybe -100. I think the Americans would have been quite upset to see the British creating what they would perceive as a rival puppet state in North America.

I disagree. The historic creation of Canada in 1867 didn't create such a stir with the Americans. They rightly saw that it was still the British that were calling the shots, and that's the case with this 1791 event, with Canada being only a British vassal.

The one change I want to make is to include an "atwar" trigegrto prevent the USA and Britain from being at war when this occurs. But should I make the trigger so that it won't occur if Britain is at war with anyone?

My opinion would be that the trigger only have the event not occur if Britain is at war with the USA. I think that as long as England views North America as peaceful, the event should occur, even if there is trouble in Europe or elsewhere in the colonies.

How about triggering on low relatons with the USA? The BNA act was somewhat pushed by the end of the US civil war and US protectionism.

I suppose that could work. But I find it hard to believe that the USA and Britain will have positive relations very often. After all the USA will typically revolt from Britain, and I think that any country that declares independence will have -200 relations.

Checking Havard's pages, I don't think you can trigger an event based on the current relationship of the two countries. Too bad - it makes sense in this situation.

Do not the americans even today feel They have some sort of soverign rights to all of North America, this is expressed in the Monroe doctrine to come out a little after the Eu period but the sentiments are rooted in the Revolution. The Americans today still exert much influnece politically over Canada. ( FTA was basically pushed through by the pro American Goverment and Canadian businesses suffered greatly )

Nonsense.

The FTA (and NAFTA after that) was not pushed through by a puppet pro-American government. The fact that the Chretien Liberals have not repealed either should be proof enough of that. Every legitimate survey of the impact of Free Trade is that it has been positive for Canadian businesses.
