Sorry if this question cropped up somewhere else already - it probably did - but I could not find the answer anywhere...
The problem: A friend of mine and I had a nice little multiplayer game going (SU and CHC) until we noticed several already researched techs had been 'forgotten' by the Chinese scientists - a bug that had plagued us now and then in the past (always hitting player who did not host the game) but not six times in a row.
So we figured we'd edit the savefile and manually add the missing techs to China's repertoire... I located the relevant lines in our .eug file and added the techs, no problem - they showed up as 'researched' when we loaded the game. Unfortunately, although e.g. Basic Mountaineers are known and Improved Mountaineers could be researched, the game refuses to acknowledge this - Latest model is Mountain '36, same with other techs.
So, these are my questions:
1. What is the reason behind this 'loosing' of tech on the client side, and how can it be avoided?
2. What is the easiest way to modify the savegame in respect to 'technologies known'? Using the official editor seems to be suicide and the HoiEditor does not support adding techs yet - or so I heard...
