Editing Leaders

I have figured out how to edit leaders.

Go into the db folder, and then into the leaders folder. After that, right click on the country whose leaders you want to edit. Change the file's so it looks something like this: leadersger instead of leaders.ger . The txt will dispear. Then repeat, renaming it the original name. Now you can edit it at yu leisure.

If you already know how to do this, and you wrote about it or saw this written about before I am sorry. I just discovered this and this made me happy.

I tried this and it seemed to have the undesired side affect of not allowing me to have anymore historical US leaders. I basically added a couple of generals for the Spanish American war era, and modified the much villified McCellan since he was an effective adminstrator and great at rebuilding the Army of the Potomac just lousy in the field. Did you experience any side effects? Or is my case just an isolated one?

Haven't played around with it yet. I am researching Franco-Prussian War Generals at the moment in preparation for scenario I want to help with.

It's just another way to change the program you use to open it with.

Shouldn't cause any problems. I have changed McClellan myself (into a cautious engineer IIRC) as well as adding several extra leaders for the major countries.

Renaming the leader file only makes it so the game won't read it. To edit a leader file all you have to do is right click onthefile, select "open with" and select notepad or worpad as your program. Then edit the text and save it and your golden.
