In a game of mine I’m unhappy that a child has actually taken his mother’s culture with the different name and all that comes with it. It’s a minor thing I know, probably unworthy of the scenario & mod forum, but something that I’d like to fix nonetheless.

If I want to edit (ie change culture and name) a character in the game what exactly need I change in the save file? Is it just a matter of somehow finding the right few lines of text and replacing a couple of choice words?

Is there any easier way to locate a character in a savefile than to read through the damn thing for sixteen hours?

In Wordpad use the search function and search for his name, or if it is a very common name, search for the tag of the country he is in.

Works in notebook, too. CTRL + F.
Remember that the country will be in the format tag = NUBI, eg, and not "Nubia."

It's usually fast enough to just cycle through the search for names, but - yeah - after a few years of gameplay, finding a John or Muhammad would probably suck... :D

If you have one special name in your dynasty (for example the sister's name) you could search for that first and then just search for father = id 'number'. Then you will find the person as well.
