I am in desperate need of saving my campaign from being ruined by the mongol hordes.

I started in the hundred years war scenario as the Duchy of Burgundy. It is 1425 and France have since long fallen to England but slowly I have built up my realm, formed my own kingdom and I was looking forward to a grand final showdown over the crown of France with the King of England.

But along come the mongols who have conquered everything from siberia to the rhine river. The whole campaing becomes pointless because inevitably everything I hold will fall to them. I've tried pushing them back using all sorts of tactics and even with cheats like triggering events that disband their armies or kill their rulers (disbanding their armies only buys a small amount of time, they simply raise them again and come back and killing their rulers have no effect since they have no vassals and their rulers have no children so the kingdom is not divided).

I would consider the following options, but how do I edit these into my scenario?
1. Adding a number of children to the ruler, then trigger the Mongol Dynastic Succession event. How do I add children?
2. Completely changing the kingdom from Golden Horde to another realm (I would consider making them Seljuk Turks since they are not present and the current ruler is Turkish), that way the realm would have to abide by the same rules and challenges as all the other kingdoms. The ruler would have to create a bunch of vassals and his armies would suffer attrition and it would actually be possible to beat them. Is it possible to change the tag of a kingdom in the save game file so that it becomes a completely different kingdom?

Perhaps a simple way would be to change the culture of the rule of the mongols to anything that is not mongol.

As far as I understood Veldmarschaalk the "I can rule 2500 provinces without demesne penalty"-bonus is tied to mongol culture. So if their ruler is not a mongol then he would quickly face huge trouble.

Correct

Change the culture of all the Mongols to something like Turkish and the special Mongol bonuses are gone.

You can also edit the strength of the Mongol armies in your save-game. Search for: archer_cav, that should lead you to the Mongol Hordes, there you can manually lower their strength

Actually the mongol ruler is already Turkish...doesn't seem to affect his demesne limit at all.

I think that if you change his title tag from GOLD to something else they should loose their bonuses and their empire will quickly decay.. (try using a tag that isn't regularly used ingame to avoid duplicates)
Also, there might be some other things you'll want to change the tag to, if you want the leader (title holder) to keep his original possessions...
You'll have to consider that it's been a long time since I played CK, though.. so good luck! :b
