Night before elections, Jacques-Philippe gave a speech on public CL meeting in Charleroi. The local press quoted some of the most significant parts of his 20-minute speech:
- The four years of conservative rule brought glory to our state, prosperity to our economy and well-being to the common man. Belgium is pursuing its place in the sun, and every day, ships full of exotic goods are unloading their precious cargo in our ports. Belgium enjoys growth, stability and peace, and Conservative League will do everything to lead Belgium forward, towards a bright future.
- In the past years, I’ve been serving or country and justice in the Supreme Court. I never wanted to be a politician, but when the justice itself suffered under the boots of traitorous military, I decided to resign rather than corrupt myself with dishonesty some of my former colleagues have shown. I will not lie – this was the hardest decision of my life, as being a judge in the SC was always my dream. Yet, while I deeply regret all the events of those few days when Belgium was betrayed and when my only son fell on the battlefield for everything he believed in, I am convinced that this hard decision was right.
- My opponent, Monsieur Renard from BSU, is certainly a man full of youth and energy, but these traits come in hand with radicalism and temerity. While I do not doubt about his skills and abilities, his calls for abandoning Catholicism as the state religion and allowing trade unions are very dangerous for Belgian society, as Catholicism is the moral code for every true Belgian and, as the experiences from abroad clearly show, trade unions are just a cover for anarchists and communists, seeking to destroy our monarchy, our society and our traditions.
- Tomorrow, all of you citizens of Charleroi will decide what our future will be. Whether Belgium will follow a way of radicalism, uncertainty, hatred and violence between fellow Belgians known as “socialism”, or whether Belgium will follow the path of our fathers, the path that led Belgium to independence, order and prosperity. I am indeed sure which path do I want to follow – and tomorrow, I will vote Conservative League.
