I know this because a senior member of your party approached me at the beginning of the election. I was offered command of a division to change my vote from the CCP to abstain! That is the leadership that exists at the head of the liberal party! As if a man of true integrity could be bought like a common mercenary.

That sounds ridiculous, Constable Vermeulen. There are only two persons I would find able to grant you such a position - and God knows why anyone would want to make a Constable into a General - and those are me and the CoGS. The latter, in fact, isn't even chosen yet. I did not bribe Mr. Poisson with said position, even though his Moderate allegiance does make him a more viable candidate. But then again, so are General Burke and General Diaz.

If you are trying to suggest that I gave you such a position - you wish. Having been the Minister of Justice for the past five years, I could not tell you this with certainty, but I believe all our divisions are fully staffed. Not to mention the unfairness in giving a Constable power over experienced military men, some of which fought in the militia for King Prosper-Louis. I do not trust you, I do not think you are fit for military command, in fact it would go against all reason to give you divisional command.

Constable, you should focus less on these ridiculous accusations and more on the believable ones. Would I appoint a Conservative who votes for our party as a member of Cabinet? Yes I would. As I said before, we find it important to form a unity Cabinet and these men have shown that they are capable of compromise and reason. One CCP member approached me lately, as he was worried by the Jingoist policies of your new leader. Contrary to what seems to be popular belief amongst the CCP ranks, I did not throw ministries at the poor man. I welcomed him into our party, one of moderation, and gave him a place to practise the Catholic faith without having to vote for the destruction of our nation in the process.

That, my friends, is the essence of the Moderate Liberal Party. We seek to represent all people, all may feel free to join our party. And, save for when you launch an unfortunate coup against us, you will not be expulsed.

My good Baron, there will be no investigation. I have no proof, and I doubt the powers-that-be would pursue such an investigation even if I did. Men who know me however, know I speak the truth. Perhaps when the Catholic Crown Party claims victory some inquiries can be made, but that would be the Marquis' decision.

My good constable, you don't understand. Bribing is a serious offense. And here is quite a dilemma. Either you speak the truth and the Liberals have tried to use dirty tricks and illegal tactics, or you're lying, which is not fitting for a man in uniform. Either way the truth need to come out. My dear sir, it is rather funny. You wish to offer cabinet positions to conservatives, who will decide to betray CCP and vote for your party- and you call it a unity government? I would call it a government of cronies and opportunists. Daret offered cabinet position to people, who did not vote for him - but you are more selective, it seems. Once again, I ask all conservatives, who are "worried about Jingoist policies", to voice their concerns to me, instead of secretly discussing it with the leader of the opposing party. It looks rather ridiculous, you know.

Apparently there is a great debate going on in Belgium after the Jacobins were discovered committing frauds and bribes. Many are outraged and demand investigation.

Of course this is not a surprise for me, I denounced the corruption and the electoral frauds of the Jacobins for ten years and no investigation was ever started! Will the people of Belgium finally recognize that their government is entirely built around forgeries and bribes, or will they suffer another 5 years of misery and poverty under the Kleptocracy of the Jacobins?

And even if they recognize the truth that pathetic buffoon of Prosper will continue to protect his masters and refuse to appoint the legitimate government...
The political system of Belgium must be completely revised and cleansed. The recent event have make this clear.

I demand an investigation to be conducted against the Liberal party to find out if these bribes were real and how serious they were. For too long the Liberals have refused to start an official investigation!

Name: Olivier van Dyke
Culture: Flemish
Date of Birth: July 21st, 1815
Bio: Olivier van Dyke born at the tale end of the Napoleonic wars to a moderately wealth family living in Ghent. Growing up in the middle class, and he lived a good and easy childhood and had major interests in the Military and Politics. While too young to fight in the first revolution, he avidly watched for news on the events on what happened and how things were going. After the Belgians got their independence he was ultimately disappointed when he was not allowed to come to the constitutional convention being deemed too young.

By 1836 he had joined the Belgian militia to determine if the Military life was for him, as it turns out he ended up being one of the Militiamen who defended Brussels from the Military Coup. His tenacious and intense patriotism, jingoistic and proud monarchist views lead him to be one of the most daring and to some insane of the Militiamen during the Second Revolution. After the military was defeated van Dyke left the Militia for a career in politics, though being defeated in the 1841 election, he finally managed to pull it together and looks like he will be able to win a seat in the 1846 election.
