Aug 4th

I have sortied with all the submarine fleets, my invasion fleet and the main carrier fleet standing by to the east in support. Unfortunately the US carrier task force has come out anyway despite being in no state to fight. They are now half between the Azores and me so retreat is no longer a practical option. I send my forces plowing on regardless to try and capture Newfoundland. Hopefully the TACs will slow them down enough to allow my main fleet to intervene.

Aug 4b

The invasion of Indochina moves on to its next attack. This move into Haiphong will get me established beyond the northern river barrier and make it reasonable to push on southwards. I have finally moved all the south China garrison into support of this move as Communist China takes over the defensive role for the Chinese mainland.

Aug 7th

I have put marines ashore on Newfoundland and docked in the major naval base. This will be an excellent naval and airbase in the northern theatre and provide the opportunity to close the north Atlantic. I can now bomb all sea Zones from Newfoundland down to the Azores and across to Spain. The only weakness is that the central area is only covered by the 6 Spanish TACs.

My carrier fleet is moving up in support to cover against the US task force although this is apparently no longer necessary.

Aug 8th

A brief carrier battle in the rain on the Grand Banks is totally inconclusive with no losses on either side but the US task force is driven off confirming that I have temporary command of the seas. I can’t expect this to last and must take rapid advantage if at all possible.

Aug 11th

This shows a periodic Japanese move to bomb the ships in Vladivostok. I have 4 MiG 15s standing by so it isn’t exactly a crisis. The Japanese lose half their planes to no discernible cost to my side. I have little to fear from improving Japanese technology as they are unlikely to be upgrading to jets.

Aug 12th

Taking advantage of the temporary naval superiority I am landing in Bermuda but with a massive submarine screen just in case.

Aug 15th

I am ashore and have therefore safely achieved another naval and air base within striking distance of the USA.

Aug 19th

A small US task force has attempted to intervene in my operations and promptly been sunk by my excellent German allies at the cost of two submarines. I can accept losses for both sides its only when they sink the whole fleet for no loss that I get really upset. The US does still have a very large fleet and I don’t know where they are. If they deployed a large destroyer force then these submarines would all be in big trouble.

Aug 21st

Another brief battle and a tactical gain to the US as they have sunk one badly damaged flotilla for no loss. They have still been driven off though indicating that I can still launch further operations.

Judging by the coastal defenses present in Florida (one garrison to a province and AFAIK no fortifications) it's possible that he'll be able to make an end-run via the Bahamas.

Canada is an invulnerable fortress. After taking Newfoundland I ran a fighter sweep or two. Without decent Marines tech I am going to have severe difficulty getting ashore let alone progressing from that point.

Florida is far weaker. The carriers are only there to cover an invasion of the Bahamas. I can't jump in too quick as I need to be able to land a very large force very quickly and that involves waiting for the transfers from the far-east and then shipping across the Atlantic to nearer bases.

Next installment will reveal what happens next. I'm afraid I stopped this set of posts at a very specific place separating two phases of the operations.

Considering that Castro only just turned 19 (he was born 13 Aug. 1926) he might not be up to it.

The US carrier task force has turned up (coming out of Miami) but I managed to drive them of last time and these are the sort of carrier odds that I like. (8:1 I think). They are soon in range and the attacks commence with the usual little effect – presumably because its night time.

@&((&%& @)*(^%%$£$£ !!!! Where the **** did they come from. The passing carrier group makes contact and then loses contact again leaving me fighting the small task force that was there before. I never signed up for this. My landing is in progress and it is probably safer to continue than try to run away since there is no nearby air cover. This means my carrier task force has got to hang on for a bit and try to fight. Help.

Holy smokes, I've been a reading up to this point for the last week or so. As everyone, I have to congratulate you on the analytical approach, though it's not something I'd do myself.
While reading up to now, I was a little afraid that US defences might be impregnable, but it looks like you're going to be able to land.

Also, are you considering upping your INFs to '45s? Wouldn't that help against the now supperior (I believe) US troop standards?

Apparently we defeated one task group (presumably the smaller one) but the inevitable carrier losses are occurring in the other group. Round one is over, the troops are nearly ashore and I am starting to run away. 2 carriers lost isn’t too bad but it isn’t too good either. When I signed up for this mission its was on the strict understanding that the US had temporarily left the field.

The troops aren’t ashore and the US task force is chasing me. There is no way my carriers can get away and they promptly lose another battle with another 3 carriers going down. This is serious, very serious.
